Now that my body has returned to a fully functional and coherent state from the night, I'd like to provide a brief recap for those who couldnt make it. I believe at the height of play we had enough for 3 on 3 or 4 on 4, which is more than enough.
The Arc was on the empty side because of the holiday on monday, so space was not a problem at all. Later in the night, we got a few games of
flipcup in, which is generally a better game to play if you want to more closely hold a large groups attention, because it can often get very competative and is built for groups greater than 6. I personally have no clue what time the games stopped, but I suspect it was after 4 or 5 (can anyone confirm?)
I'll also describe the set of rules we used for future reference [see also:
Wikipedia]. We played with 6 cups on each side, with mostly teams of two on two, with no over the table ("airball") rule, no elbow rule or similar, no empty cup rule, reracking at 3 only and not between shots, bouncing is allowed (counts as two), doubling up in the same cup is 3 (in general the number in the backrow), tripling up in the same cup (if playing with 3 or more players per side) is every cup but one, and after the last cup is hit each player on the soon-to-be losing side shoots til they miss. If that team hits the remaining cups, than we go to a three cup playoff. This also means that cups that are hit remain on the table until each player on the shooting team gets a chance. Half way through play we added the balls back rule, meaning that if all players on a team hit then they get balls back and get to shoot again.
That's all I can think of for now.. but it's probably enough
