SCART-RCA converters - where to buy, how to use

I discovered the other day that the piece of crap tv provided at my apartment only has a SCART connector for connecting vcr's dvd players, etc. The problem is...I am thinking of buying one of those handy external HDD cases that can act as media centers (i.e. play DVD files, divx, xvid, mp3, etc).

Well the connection from the case is a proprietary one that has the single connector on one and and splits into RCA at the other end. Lo and behold...how would I then connect this to my crappy tv that has only got a SCART connector. I know you can get SCART-RCA cables, but then they are both male connectors...so what can I do?

Scart to RCA cables can be found at just about any audio/video store.
If you need to convert a male RCA to female, well guess what, thay have litle adapters for that to.. You should be able to sort this problem out in 10 min, with a trip to Saturn/Media Markt...

I have a connector that i think is the one you need. It is a scart head and you plug the cables into scart head. Don't know the proper name for the connector but i use it to connect my Archos AV700 dockign station to the TV.

btw, i find scarts better connections than having to connect three cables all the time.

This is similar to what i have, although mine doesn't have the RF cable connection, just the three coloured connections.

@OG The upper pic doesnt have an RF cable connection either. Its an S-Video connector.

yep, that's what i meant. Wasn't really engaging brain when i wrote "RF".

Note that some of these connectors are unidirectonal. The picture that OG shows is bi-drectional, set according to the slide switch on the case. Make sure you get one that sends in the right direction, or has that switch.
