GNO - Girls' Night Out - Friday 2.Jun.2006

Dressed up at Negroni - 6pm

I've reserved for 15 people at Negroni at 18:00. Why not, that's when the happy hour starts. I've heard lots of good things about this place and never been there myself -- but there're apparently the best cocktails in town and they have food too.

Reservation is under the name "Toytown". Should more than (or fewer than!) 15 want to come, I will call the place on Thursday to adjust the numbers. Even if you're doing something else you might still make it for part of the evening. The weather is supposed to be rainy, so no point planning on a beergarden. Though we'll update the weather predictions as this thread goes on.

We have been informed that the management is interested in keeping all ladies happy, so we should have a signup sheet soon. Edit: and here it is - Girls night out sign-up sheet

Many of those I've consulted are interested in dressing up -- so am I. I'd like to take the opportunity to look good while not playing arm candy for hubby. Er, well I'll try anyway. Might even swing some heels.

If any fellas show up sometime, that's all right too, but we're not saving you any space at our tables.

Hmm, anything I've forgotten? Post below, hope to see you there!

We have been informed that the management is interested in keeping all ladies happy,

This sounds promising. I will be there (at least for a little bit). As far as dressing up goes- love the idea, have no outfit. sad.gif Anyone up for an afternoon of shopping Friday beforehand? biggrin.gif
Bubble Gum
I'll be there!
Carm
Its right around the corner from DK's- TTFriday night drinks at the Augustiner- so people can do both!
Renia
Tara invited me to come too, so I'm looking forward to meeting some of the ladies here and having a great night!

Renia
UrbanAngel
I'll be there too.

By the way, it's open invitation to all women, you don't need a special invite.

Thanks for organising it, Gen!
Toronto
sounds good, im in. smile.gif
Tara
I'm there...in my heels.
wahoo
Looking forward to it!
UrbanAngel
The sign up sheet has now been implemented.
(Jeez, I'm at work and speaking like a lawyer already).
Verbatim
Have fun but, lawyer or not, please note that you don't "implement" a sign-up sheet. wink.gif
Eleanor Rigby
I'd venture to say that Negroni has the best cocktails in Munich. I'll be in Berlin so can't make it.

Have fun!
UrbanAngel
Verbatim - I stand corrected! wink.gif

@ER - I had a margharita there once and was very disappointed. I hope it's better this time round.
Eleanor Rigby
They have a lot of awards on display.
georgiagirl
I'm in, at least for a couple of hours - and bringing a girlyfriend too. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for organising, Gen.
Elfenstar
really hope the weather gets better. i'm so not looking forward to walking those blocks in my open-toed shoes.
gemini
I should be there too. Looking forward to it.

Elfenstar - I would like that book to borrow. I would happy to lend you what I think is an interesting book too.
Gen
what book?
Nadia
Hey, I'm in and out of Munich these days (until end of July, this time) but would love to meet people while I'm here. Can I add my name to the list as a possible party-crasher? I just want to check with my better half if we had anything planned for that night before I confirm but should hear back from him soon.
honeebeaz
Would love to come too, a purely Girl's Night Out is exactly what I could do with...

But unfortunately I'm gonna be back home for the week end to split my ex-boyfriends's stuff from mine. Sooo much more fun to be had there. dry.gif As your woman said before me: isn't it ironic...

Anyway my question is: is this a regular thing by any chance? I would guess so, but if not, could we make it one? rolleyes.gif

As much as I love the TT lads it'd be nice to just hang out with the girls exclusively every so often...

I mean let's be fair: for one thing, they have something going on every single day of the week anyway, it's not like they're going to miss us and it'll give us a break... tongue.gif
UrbanAngel
It's rather sporadic!
jml
Basically GNO happens when someone, anyone wants to organise it. Basically you pick a date and set a location. Some consensus is good but your best off limiting the options or you'll never get it settled.

I won't be around in July but I'll put this one out there for the next one, its a proposal from the private dancer chef Don Riina. I would've gone for this in June but he's off pimping, hustling and generally being ornery traveling elsewhere.

How about a weird GNO in July? I'm thinking warm weather, and that means I am talking about eating al fresco, and whats better al fresco than that Spanish masterpice, Paella.

Somewhere easy in town, which means the Isar really, a fire, and a big paellera pan sitting atop of it. The full paella experience, which means its all cooked as you watch, and its great to watch - shitloads of seafood, chicken, spicy sausage, peppers, garlic; such incredible cooking aromas, its more of a nasal assault than just a bunch of smells.

Would be very good fun. Paella always is.

I think this is great idea for GNO or any other meetup really. Hope to see it done. smile.gif
honeebeaz
shoot, there is really no way I can make it. sad.gif

But thanks for the info UA. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for the next one then.

Edit: Oops, I seem to be a bit slow... well now jml, doesn't that sound appealing! Anybody up for the whole paella plan?

What do you mean "they"? It's not like TT Tuesday and Curry Nights and Pub Quizzes etc are all male-only events or anything, I go to all of them when I feel like it. Oh and Karaoke Fridays at the Arc sometimes too.
honeebeaz
I know they're not supposed to be; actually I go to these too - especially the ones involving drinking. I started not that long ago but it does seem to be turning into a very regular thing. rolleyes.gif
There isnt much logic in what I wrote I admit blink.gif : what i meant was that it is a good idea to have an all-girl event every so often to counterbalance all the rest. And as I wrote, if we organise the GNO's on Fridays for example, it would be a great way to just meet up with the rest of the TT crowd that would be out for TT Friday.

I was just wondering what exactly counts as dressing up? Any tips (pictures of dressy clothing) would be much appreciated- I'm clueless about fashion-type-stuff. sad.gif

I'd like to come along too. Just got back from London and enjoyed a few girly nights out and want to keep the vibe going :-)

I am living out of a suitcase, but have a LBD and heels with me- I fear it might be too cold though. Was thinking of black pants with a dressy top...and heels of course!?
UrbanAngel
I presume it just means no jeans and t-shirt.
Eleanor Rigby
Negroni isn't exactly a fancy place. Sure you can dress up but it's certainly not necessary.
Tara
For anyone who is up for dancing later, I quite fancy this:

http://www.munichx.de/planen/special.php?id=2587

I've never actually been to Prinzip (anyone?) but it seems like the place for girlies in the heels with very danceable music.
Jenny L
Oh thank God- I can manage fancy then if it simply means no jeans and t-shirts. I got my little black dress today. The only problem is that it´s prone to static cling. The last thing I need is anything clinging tightly to my thighs. sad.gif Anyone know how to take care of a problem like that by chance? (Apart from wearing a different dress).
Showem
A little bit of hair conditioner with water in a bottle. Spray it on. So I've heard at least.
Jenny L
Excellent. Thanks, Showem.
UrbanAngel
Don't wear tights smile.gif
jml
i'll be there as soon as i can get out of the office.
UrbanAngel
Seriously? Hoorah!
bubblylady
I'll be there too. I might be there only at 8 pm though...

How fancy will you all be dressed? So jeans is not okay? No problem with that, just need to know wink.gif
Elfenstar
since it's still so cold, I'm not going overboard. i don't got anything short and black anyhow, but i probably won't wear jeans and tennis shoes.
Gen
Reservation has been made for 25 people, so there's still space for anyone who's not decided yet. We'll be in the area at the back with four six-people tables which are all together.
pike
Do you really think that any male in their right mind would want to turn up to this... ? I just think this chat about little black numbers and static cling, and the whoopees and overt gratitude and arbitrary spontaneity really belong in adult chat or, at a minimum, in the Ladies' *cough* club.
UrbanAngel
We don't want any of you blokes turning up - that's the whole point.
pike
charming I'm sure.
UrbanAngel
Likewise.

(As a side note - only supporters have access to the Ladies' Forum, so it would mean lots of people wouldn't be able to read this thread).

let me see if I've got this straight. You claim to be male but the thought of ladies in little black dresses clinging to their bodies doesn't excite you?

Maybe you should be a member of the ladies club.
pike
Maybe I am already.
zee
I'll try to make it, too. dressing up is difficult cause of the weather (and the limited selection I have...)
Gen
Zee, you're not on the Signup sheet (linked from the first post). I hope everyone else has put their names on the sheet, otherwise I may've given the bar a totally wrong number of people for the reservations.
Toronto
Just realized this is at 6pm??? No way i will make it, i work until 6-7ish...so will be a little late as usual. dry.gif
EUnomad
I am coming with be there around 7-730 ... won't be able to make it at 600...
