Not sure if I have posted this in the correct forum?
7 months ago I got my brake discs replaced on my car, one of them is now warped, (like most members) so today I went back to get them replaced under warranty. I have very bad german and the garage has very bad English. When I return to pick the car up they want to charge me €95 for the discs but no charge for labour.
I said I wasn’t paying and the guy mentioned the police, which did not bother me. I had to get a friend to phone and they now tell me that they have to get Bosh to check the discs to see if they were faulty. So why replace them with free labour, when I said do be done under warrenty. So I drove away with out paying.
Just before this I had the car at another garage and they insisted that the garage that fitted the discs must replace them under the 12 warranty.
Has anyone had similar experiences

call this number and ask them what exactly their procedure is for work done under warranty:
01802 / 60 61 62
might be best if you ask a German friend to call, just to make sure you know exactly what is what. That way you can see if the garage was trying to screw you.

A friend bought a new VW last year. One of the discs is seriously scored from the pads. When she took it back for a service and pointed it out they said it's "normal" wear from the pad! Being a woman she didn't like to ask too much & thought they know best. seems to me that that's bollox too. If the others are ok then the "scored" one must be faulty. Same as your one and, if they're less than 1 year old then surely you can demand they replace it under the warranty, - if one's ok and the other not then one has to be faulty!

Are we all sleeping today, there hasn't been one sarcastic reply to my post?
Today I was back at the garage to try and get my keys and documents back without success. I also explained the situation to the police, who were not realy interested, which I guessed but I just wanted to confirm that I had done nothing illegal.
So if there is no more advise, then can someone recommend a lawyer?

Just to keep you updated, I went to the police yesterday and explained the situation, I really wanted to confirm that I did nothing illegal in driving my car away without paying for the parts that should be covered under warrenty. The police seemed to be quite happy I had my car.
The Police also advised me to return to the garage and ask for my keys and documents back and to say that I will pay the invoice once the brakediscs are inspected by Bosch.
I returned to the garage and there was a woman who spoke good english. This woman said that brakediscs are not covered by warrenty and that it is normal wear and tear! These discs were on my car for 7 months, 3 of these months I was in the States, so these discs only lasted 4 months. I don’t think Bosch would be happy with that. Plus the fact that they are warped, and not worn.
I also told this woman that I had been to the police and discussed this. Later that night the woman came to my flat and returned my keys, documents, invoice, and letter. This time she refused to speak english and the letter was in german.
Not sure if that is the end of it or I will receive more letters.

You should agree with the garage when you give them the car what work they can do for you, and what it should cost. If the work then goes over this amount or other jobs crop up they must call you and ask you what you would like them to do. If they do more work than you asked them to do you do not have to pay for it. However I'm not sure if this is law or a code of practice that garages sign up to. ADAC have a service for settling disputes.
For repairs to German cars I recommend Stimmer & Sohn. Search on TT for their details.
