Request help from the people regarding information about the visa transfer for asian professionals in germany

I currently have a visa stamped by KVR which says that i can work in germany till 2009.There are 2 sheets stamped, one is fully in german and says something about the employment details with my current employer, and the second sheet says something about the duration. It is in this second sheet that i can see a timestamp which says 1-11-2009.

Query goes like this

1) If i am working with a consultant A and i want to shift my job and want to work with another consultant B or directly with a company C, what is the process for visa transfer at KVR??

2) If i am out of germany for sometime, say 6 months, can i still come back and work in germany

1. Most Visas are only good for the current job and are not transferable. You will need to reapply for a new work permit for the new job.

2. If you are out of Germany for 180 days or more your visa is automatically canceled or can be canceled, as stated in the documents they gave you when you got it. Thus if your visa is canceled you are put back into tourist status. Depending on what Passport you hold you may be required to apply for an entry visa before you are allowed back in.

Check with the KVR/Arbeitsamt before you leave. They can make an exception to the 180 day rule if you have a valid reason.

i think you need to change it soon as the the visa your wife has is a "copy" of yours.
but then my knowledge is limited.

Call the KVR if you have an immediate question. They do answer right away, or go down to the KVR.There are too many variables with your specific case that you will not find the exact answer here immediately, but you can find it at the KVR.

Look here for the information

I am a Indian citizen and I have been in Germany only a few months. I am currently employed by a German
company in Bremen but I work from Munich (I had to go to the Munich KVR).

I found another job in Munich and I was wondering how much time (visa processing time) will it take for me
shift my current visa (which allows me to work only for the company in Bremen) to a new visa that will allow
me to work for my new company (given all the contract papers are in order).

Please let me know if anybody has any experience in these kind of issues (it will help me decide my starting
date).

Thanks,
Kartick

Hi Karticks,

Ideally the HR people in your new company should be sorting this out, and they may have previous experience with it too. Maybe you could try asking them?
karticks
I think they are a bit clueless - I am going to be the first non-EU hire for them and hence I was trying to do my homework :-)

Hmm in which case, since no one else has replied yet with the answer, you could give the Indian Consulate a quick call and ask them what the average amount of time is, or if they know who could help you. Contact details:
Consulate General of India
Widenmayer Strasse 15
D-80538 Munich

Thanks UrbanAngel for the info - I will give them a call/email.

Has anybody (non-EU national) in Munich or Germany gone through such a change of jobs ?

Thanks,
Kartick

Hello Kartick ,

The process will be same as how you got your first work permit. You have to speak to the auslander amt
regarding this. Better ur HR can speak to the auslander amt regarding this.

Hello Kartik,

Please have a look at this post

Transferring German work visas between employers

This actually worked out pretty well for me - my company sent all the paperwork to
the main labor department in Berlin and then to KVR (in Munich).

Once everything was approved (took about a week for my company to finish all the
paperwork and get it approved), I just had to go to KVR with my passport and contract
and fill out a form. I got my passport stamped that very day (as I was starting the new
job the next day) and I had to pay 30 euros (visa processing fee).

So in short this is a pretty painless process (as long as you are transferring companies
in the same city) and most of the work has to be done by the company that is hiring
you.

Cheers,
Kartick
