Wouldn't be a club with a name not unlike a large city that never sleeps?
Not unknown as being a place to buy, sell etc. You'd need to be off your face to stand the music in there anyway.

The police raided this place also about 4 weeks ago and did the same routine so it wouldn't surprise me at all. From what I heared there was no "Mr Big" getting nicked, just anyone who had a few pills. Recently there have been a few searches on people going in by the door staff too.

For a few weeks there will be slighly less dealers around and then it will pick up again. It's a cat and mouse game the police and the dealers play.

Given that this DOES happen and particuarly in the gay bars (cops know we have the best men, the best music and the best drugs in our clubs sweetie) I would advise against anyone carrying.

And yes, they might deny it but Munich police has a nice little database on the names and adresses of people they check in gay bars.

Ahhh Brighton how I miss you and your relaxed attitudes towards sexual orientation...

just reading this thread make me miss the Montrose.

yes, yes a confirmed fruit fly that lived in Houston's finer alternative lifestyle neighborhood. I remember my neighbor, an architect had built his dream home, but missed the Montrose cos "there something special about living in a neighborhood where you can smoke a breakfast joint on your front porch as your nextdoor neighbor walks the dogs in drag. I miss this place." and that is why Steve drove across town to sit on my front porch to drink coffee. He still regrets selling that house

I think the police are having a blast pretending to do raids when they just wanna rip off those uniforms and get naked and sweaty with the boys. just come out. the people that truly love you don't care who sleep with and your parents already know, they always do.

I never been in a place during a drugs raid but I suppose if you had anything you just throw it on the floor before the police see you right - if you were clear thinking enough. Dunno how quickly the door staff can tell the DJ / crowd. Maybe some kind of warning buzzer when the boys in green raid a place. If it was the club I'm thinking of, they have the door mostly closed anyway and it's a fair way to the dancefloor...

Asked around and yes, it happened and it happened where I thought.
The unconfirmed rumour (but from a pretty good source) is that as the owner has got pissed off with the whole drugs thing, the place is going to close soon and re-open as a hetero disco. Not exactly the right corner of town for that mind...

It would be a massive end of an era, I went there first in 1989! and also it would be a huge reduction in the club scene. A lot of the other places are too specialist or just too popular!

Which bar is it then? And where? Surely that's not a secret?

The city that never sleeps? What? New York? Is there a gay bar in Munich called New York something? Not NYTD I assume. I'm not familiar with the gay scene. Just curious which bar will be closing which will be a "major loss".

They do have blokes getting their kit off at NYTD but it's women only...

I heard the raid was at New York, the "Daddy" of the gay clubs, been around a long time and the biggest or 2nd biggest gay disco in Munich near Sendlinger Tor.

Of the other clubs:
Soul City is really for 25s and unders and is apparently too full of heteros a lot of the time.
Fortuna the lesbian disco has closed I think.
Stud is very errrrm "specialised"
Carmens is often a 2 hour queue (if you haven't got a VIP card )
Old Mrs Henderson is dear and has gone right down hill IMVHO
And the gay nights at Funky Kitchen or Candy Club aren't that regular.

So it closing would be the end of an era and leave a big whole in the club scene.

The music used to be fab in there and you could request stuff. Since E arrived it went all housey and you couldn't make requests. I'd only end up there usually if I was bollocksed, but had a fun time the other week, sore nipples after mind!

Not true sir on the "it's women only" bit. Sundays is ladies night but men are allowed in after midnight or something like that. Every other day it's mixed. Usually about 3 male dancers to about 10 or 15 female dancers. The clientelle are guys, girls, couples, whatever.

I'm just thinking with it being a gay bar, the leatherman was probably definitely there. That evening, cop (albeit in green) was there.. all they needed was the indian, the construction worker, and the sailor to have a full complement..

It was probably just a scouting mission before Tollwood this year
