hi all!

Does anyone fancy a drink or two this saturday? At the mo' I can say that we'll be out at 8ish, but I don't know where yet. Any ideas?

How about Sachsenhausen - or is that too conventional? rolleyes.gif
drea
I was thinking of maybe trying somewhere new and then drifting into sachsenhausen later in the usual manner. But on the other hand, sachsenhausen is very easy isn't it?
Little Britain
I should be there. will recommend some new places to go in Sachsenhausen. maybe we can start off over on Schweizer Strasse and then make our way over to Alt-Sachsenhausen checking out a few places on the way biggrin.gif
benjdray
Is it ok to tag along on Saturday? I would suggest somewhere but I have no clue (only arrived at the weekend)! huh.gif
Purple Muffin
Well since I have been told I am not allowed to fly to the UK tomorrow I might be up for coming along if I am feeling better by then which I most certainly hope.

No Alt Sachsenhausen though as firstly it ruins my shoes and secondly it is impossible to go to the toilet on your own without being manhandled. If you lot ever entered these places sober you'd see what I mean!
Evanna
I'm up for it, too! rolleyes.gif What about starting in one of the many locals in Berger Straße this time?
G&Tgirl
Would be great to visit some new places in Sachsenhausen! Am definitely up for going to somewhere on Schweizerstr. - seems to be a bit more civilized than Alt-Sachsenhausen, don't know if that's good or bad...

P.M.: don't worry about your shoes - I'll carry you biggrin.gif

Benjdray: Looking forward to meet you smile.gif
drea
So this Schweizerstrasse seems like a good bet. Does anyone know any specific pub which we could meet in? Also could someone give directions for a sense-of-direction-less person like myself. Thanks!
Purple Muffin
My only preference on Schweizer str is not Wega's.

Those of you at the BB meetup last year where I got covered in beer will remember why!

Little Britain is quite hot up on Sachsenhausen bars we should ask him
G&Tgirl
How about a traditional appelwoi-kneipe like Zum gemalten Haus on Schweizerstr. 67? It's quite cosy and traditional - as long as nobody wants to eat, the food is local and truly disgusting biggrin.gif
Little Britain
I would be up for going to an Ebbelwoi place first. am happy to go to Zum Gemahlten Haus but I must admit that I do prefer Adolf Wagner's, think it is normally a better atmosphere (and the food is better if you do wanna eat).

from there we could maybe go to Keepers Lounge. or to Cantina Mescal (more of a restaurant but still cool for drinks etc). or to Jumali (small cocktail bar) on textor strasse. or to Hoppers. then we could walk over towards Alt-Sachsenhausen and go to Saint Clichy. or even to Leon Garcia's on the river (quite cool for drinks). or to Harrys New York Bar (classy place in the Main Plaza) or to a cool Italian bar/restaurant called Biancolinos.

or we could just go straight to the Anglo! tongue.gif

Sounds Like fun.. I'd love to go visit my old stompping grounds, but alass I must work and I'm 450km's to far south sad.gif
G&Tgirl
Adolf Wagner's sounds cool. Is it necessary to make reservations on a saturday?
@ Little Britain: Sounds like you have been doing some serious research into the nightlife of Sachsenhausen, it's a tough life, eh? wink.gif
drea
what about Adolf Wagner's then? And when in there we can sort through the many options that little britain has suggested (very thorough research there phil...very impressive!).

So how does Adolf Wagner's at 8 sound? Is this the type of place where you need to reserve a table? And where is the nearest S-bahn/U-bahn stop
Purple Muffin
Nearest stop is the Südbahnhof. Drea this place is next to where I got soaked in beer last summer!

I think that is a good idea but do the guys realise they do not serve beer there? It does not make a difference to me as I cannot drink becuase of the antibiotics anyway!

See you there - I'll probably be a little later than 8 though!

Not sure on the table reservation it is quite big in there
drea
I can't be bothered to ring and make the table reservation so we'll chance it! Thanks for the directions muffin...no problem for me about the beer (well not too much anyway)

see you all tomorrow
Little Britain
Well when you live in sachsenhausen it would be rude not to research some of the bars and restaurants eh? wink.gif

Wagners it is then. smile.gif I think we should make a reservation though as there will be a fair sized group, normally it is rammed in there on a weekend night. I am happy to call them.

What time shall I reserve for and for how many?
Little Britain
not having beer is no problem, bring on the Apfelwein! tongue.gif
G&Tgirl
Reservation for 8 o'clock should be fine? or does anyone want to start earlier?
I'll bring Nis along, so 2 seats for me please, cheers Phil!
See you there.
drea
@ phil: cheers for offering to make the reservation, I'm too knackered to try my best german (which they never understand) over the phone.

So far it looks like myself, yourself, g&Tgirl, nis, evanna, muffin and benjdray. 6 if I haven't missed anyone. 8 is grand for me.
Purple Muffin
Just wanted to say I am not a 100% definite yet it depends how I feel tomorrow.

Oh and I might bring someone!

Sorry I know how annoying that is for the arrangements I am not getting my own back for the times it has been done to me honest!

Have a beer for me guys. Gonna be out of town so won't make it unfortunately. Hopefully catch u all soon tho.

have a cool nite
G&Tgirl
Sorry guys, the Adolf Wagner kneipe is fully booked for tonight. Have managed to make a reservation in "Zur Germania", Textorstr. 16. The table is booked for "Nielsen" @ 8 o'clock.

It should be easy to find - otherwise you'll find a map here:
