I am looking for a job in Köln (or around), been here 6 months and speak basic German. Almost finished my lessons and hope to soon have 'Zertifikat Deutsch'. Trouble is my German isn't good enough to have a job entirely in German and am struggling to find work as a result. I want a decent-ish job, I worked as a Project Planner in the UK and there are lots of jobs here for which I could be suitable if I could speak fluent German. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can do (apart from improving my German which takes ages)? Companies to apply to? Anyone know any International Companies where the working language is English? To be honest I just want a full time job, I'm not too fussy - but something office based. Be interested to hear what other people do for work, how they found it etc. Thanks!

I don't have any links specific for Cologne. But you can try typing "Cologne" and/or "Köln" into the following nationwide job search websites:

www.gulp.de
www.jobserve.de
www.monster.de
www.arbeitsagentur.de
www.jobscout24.de

Another good site for jobs with the bigger firms - sometimes requiring English speakers - is: jobstairs.com

And here are some tips on applying for jobs and writing a German resume (in german).
