The whole show was a crock of shit!
Steven23
Eurovision Song contest had some good entrys tonight for a change England, Ireland, and Germany were my favourites. As every year though countries vote for their neighbours which spoils the show.

The most predictable result was Germany giving Turkey 12 and Turkey giving Germany 0.
crusoe
@ meyermunich: but it's supposed to be. The worse, the better.

Tonight was really the PITS. The worst ESC I have ever witnessed. Just as it should be. Enjoyed every minute of it and can't wait for next year to see if it will be even worse. Finnland was so dire they could ONLY win. It's so heartening when a show like this lives up to expectations and gets worse. I EVEN voted because I was sooooo happy at the sheer level of shite broadcast.
Great night's entertainment and Ralph Siegel can go to Switzerland and write a ballad about "losing" again.
I feel happy

Next year a country in East Europe will win wink.gif

I think it was a bit on the boring side this year... disappointing! sad.gif

Bloody arrogant French refusing to translate their votes into English like all the other countries again!

It pains me to say, but I quite liked the German song... I think Croatia, Bosnia, Russia or Armenia should have won! Irish one was bollocks this year! UK one catchy but still crap!
Sin
aHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The Finnish monsters won!!!

I'm tippin' Motorhead for next year's UK entry.

Did Terry Wogan have his heart attack yet? laugh.gif

basically serbia just voted for macedonia, croatia and bosnia!!

I'm reading the thread because I didn't watch the show. Can someone explain how it is that Serbia managed to vote when, as far as I know, they had pulled out of this year's contest? Or did they take part after all? unsure.gif
Darkknight
They paid their entrance fee in full, and it was decided by the Eurovision commitee to allow them the vote, broadcast the semi-final and final. The Commitee also decided that Serbia/Montanegro would not be banned from the next 3 contests, as that was another penality they could have imposed.

Eurovision Reference Group recommends no fine for Serbia & Montenegro
In a telephone conference held on Friday, 31 March, the Reference Group of the Eurovision Song Contest discussed the late withdrawal of Serbia & Montenegro.

Serbia & Montenegro decided to withdraw from the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest on 20 March. According to Eurovision rules, Serbia & Montenegro will still be obliged to pay its participation fee in full but the Reference Group could recommend to the TV Committee of the EBU that it impose either a financial fine (between 5% and 10% of the fee) or an exclusion from the Contest of up to three years.

The Reference Group decided to recommend that Serbia & Montenegro should pay their fee, but face no further sanctions – such as a fine or exclusion.

Nevertheless, UJRT will broadcast the Semi Final and Final and viewers in Serbia and Montenegro will also be able to take part in the televoting.
Natalia
Now, we are THE WINNERS!!! biggrin.gif

Can't imagine what will be going on in Finland when they arrive to Vantaa airport; for so many years there wasn't anybody even able to go to final.
Darkknight
And if you want to see them (And many others) in Concert, they'll be coming to Germany in July for the Earthshakerfest 2006 in Rieden/Kreuth
(July 20-22 - About 1hr North of Munich)

i love it how all the slavs vote for the slavs and the scandinavians vote for their neighbors as well (basically serbia just voted for macedonia, croatia and bosnia!!)

Still, it's better than harping on the war, don't you think? wink.gif
MonksTown
Wasn't the best ever show tbh.

Crap British entry, crap Irish entry.
Distinct lack of eye candy.
Darkknight
Lack of Eye candy??? Where were you looking?

Crap British entry, crap Irish entry.

Isn't that the whole point ? Ireland have decided they can't afford to stage yet another one and UK got no chance anyway cos of political voting.

Only reason anyone watches this overhyped meaningless drivel is to hear Wogan take the piss out of the hosts.

Was sitting in the pub and watched some of this with no volume. Interesting what one notices without sound. First, a lot of the acts seemed similar -female diva with a bunch of guys jumping in the background, or vice versa. Then along came Lordi, I don´t know how the music sounded, but they sure as hell were FUN to watch. Fireworks to the left and right of them, battle axes swinging, the crowd went wild or so it seemed. On an entertainment level these Predator lookalikes were great!

And take the piss out of all of the entrants who actually take this seriously, which is everybody east of Germany I think...

It was, as always, a joke. Laughable. A complete and utter waste of time and money, yet a farce that provides no end of entertainment, thanks to old Tel mostly.
MonksTown
Though the German commentator on ARD has picked up a lot of the one liners and caustic comments from Tel, he was really bitchy this year, but less drunk. biggrin.gif
Crawlie
The only thing is, that it is always the same commentary, which is beginning to get repetitive...

Was I the only one to think that the Turkish singer was actually a female impersonator? Frightening
Steven23
Why dont Wales, Scotland, and N.Ireland have separate acts then vote for each other?
chaki
Can't do that.Have to completely separete like Latvia, Estonia, Letonia or ex-Yugoslavia countries.Next year the ex-Yu lobby will have more points to give as Montenegro looks like is going to separate from Serbia. smile.gif
