Baldi is fierce worried the presenter's left tit is going to make a bid for freedom very soon.
But then, he's just told me he used to dream of Nana Mouskouri as the ideal of what every girl should look like.
pootle
FINLAND FINLAND FINLAND FINLAND!!!
thejarvii
YES YES YES YES! (Honestly it'd be great if Lithuania won with their we are the champions song)
berny68
I'm obviously biased...but I think germany did pretty well! smile.gif
crusoe
Back over the reruns, Macedonia has to get extra points for impressive bra cantileverage and stability.
berny68
just imagine such a contest between the 50 states of america ;-) half of that show would be censored ;-)
Joliet Jake
Israel
Lithuania
Germany
Greece
Finland
thejarvii
I did like Germany as well, though last year I learned that whatever I liked ended up pretty much near the bottom of the final standings.
thejarvii
Those white flags for the invincible song is just too funny.
berny68
that's the fascination of Europe...whenever you have a vote the outcome is so unpredictible ;-)
hmspresident
Anyone else notice that their "egg-timer" thing is a bit pants...?

What's the point in having the Greek flag on the back so you can't see it anymore?
crusoe
Last place: Malta and Macedonia.

Those white flags for the invincible song is just too funny.

Thinking about it maybe the background just gave in to the singer ;-)
berny68
oops...I was pretty close with my prediction about Aristotle and Euclid earlier ;-)
thejarvii
It appears we are about to witness a live sacrifice. Perhaps the Russian's mullet will be the target?
berny68
Have you noticed? They are now making up for all those extremely short dresses by giving this white angel a really extra long one ;-)
crusoe
the Greeks haven't had any problems with bird flu yet to judge from the costumes now on stage

edit: they're all wearing their underpants over their tights - it must be SUPERBIRD...

thejarvii
Ok, they obviously went through great trouble for these bird-like outfits. Do you think it was a last minute decision to throw knee pads on the outside of them? Or did they just forget to build them in or something?
Joliet Jake
This is to reinforce that all 24 of the contestants really could have been worse.
Topsy
Quite liked Turkey, myself (anyone else reckon that was a transsexual singing?)
Didn't mind Finland, and I didn't mind... (*looks a bit sheepish*) Romania and Germany, either.

But I didn't like any of them enough to motivate me to actually vote or anything.
Did anybody vote?

UK was complete rubbish, as usual. No doubt they'll come in the bottom third and everyone will blame the Iraq war again, or some such tosh rolleyes.gif
berny68
we should really be glad that the greeks started with their evolution already 4000 years ago ;-)
crusoe
This year's trouser style of choice is definitely the pedal pusher. Many acute trouser problems spotted over the course of the evening.

AND SHUT THAT BLOODY BOUZOUKI PLAYER UP!
thejarvii
I'm so so confused right now.
Joliet Jake
@jarvii -- it's OK. Take a five minute mental health break over on the baseball thread.
MadGolfer
Ukraine or Greece (Again) for Winners.
thejarvii
Well, she changed clothes, but I'm glad to see he stuck with the gold suit.
crusoe
Yay! First vote given, 8 points to FINLAND!

Storming ahead, those Finnish crusties.
berny68
are those O2 bubbles in the background? are they sponsors? ;-)
Joliet Jake
Finland with 10 from Andorra! The start of something big!
persik
what's going on? so they will go thru every country in europe and their choice??! how long is this show?
berny68
finally some points for germany...took really a while
berny68

yep, that's what they do
Joliet Jake
@persik - buckle in for another 45 minutes or so I would think.
thejarvii
I think the lady emerging from the piano is getting Russia some points because surely it wasn't the singers ability or hairdo.
berny68
yep, time to grab a beer ;-)
hmspresident
Show finishes at 11.05 on BBC1... (UK time, obviously)

Finland are in with a good chance!!
crusoe
@ thejarvii: ah g'wan. Apart from the mullet, the Russian guy was cute. And how did he keep those trousers on?
persik
i love it how all the slavs vote for the slavs and the scandinavians vote for their neighbors as well (basically serbia just voted for macedonia, croatia and bosnia!!)
berny68
the german reporter just said: there are obviously borders of taste in Europe as well
I like that ;-)
thejarvii
Did I just see one of those "hard rock" Finnish monsters hold up a sign that said "We [heart] you"? Too funny.
crusoe
Brilliant, Ireland has just given Lithuania 12 points.

How do the Maltese manage to be so nice to people when they just want to shout "F*ING VOTE FOR US YOU BASTARDS"?
Joliet Jake
The Irish give 12 points to Lithuania...always a soft spot for someone taking the piss...
berny68
"...from sunny Malta..."
must be the midnight sun ;-)
Joliet Jake
France still getting shut out...along with Malta and Israel.
berny68
well, they're always a bit different java script:emoticon(';)', 'smid_14')
wink.gif
Andy101
The top three winners most likely be...

Finland
Russia
former Yugo

wink.gif
crusoe
What kind of people would buy the DVD of this show?
hmspresident
Armenia just gave 2 points to France...

France gave 4 to Israel...

Only Malta left with "nil points"...
UrbanAngel
I think System of a Down should have been Armenia's entry smile.gif
