Schalke's business manager Assauer steps down
Not quite voluntarily, it is whispered
Rudi Assauer, Schalke 04's Business Manager of almost 20 years, stepped down today after the board of directors refused to continue his contract. There have been rumors in the last few days that he had been leeking confidential information regarding the club's precarious financial condition that he was not able to refute convincingly.
Not altogether surprising. Schalke is in deep do-do with regards to its financial situation, possible insolvenz and the admitted value of the old stadium. The board is trying to stay as tight-lipped as possible
