I was in Media Markt the other day and saw a device which, means instead of having to drill holes and lay a cable for your intranet extension you can use the power socket instead. Does anyone know if there,s a similar device for analogue telephones and if so whats it called in German and where do I get them from?
Many thanx.
Try googling for "One For All SV1500"

The SV1500 is about the only device that will do this, but make sure you buy from a German store, or you'll need a host of (power and phone) adapters and there is a risk it won't work in a German house cabling system. You can get them mail order for around €80 inc shipping
here.
Personally, I'd just buy a cordless phone

Cheers Yorkshire Lad and JG. I would rather have a cordless phone but my German Misses is convinced that the radio waves will give us all brain cancer.

Sigh... Next time she suggests that be sure to switch off her mobile (cell) phone, microwave, computer screen, TV, WiFi access point and cordless weather station and makes sure all neighbours left, right, up and down do the same... Of all of these a DECT cordless phone is less of a problem unless you strap it to your skull 24 hours a day, and even then you'd have to have it there from birth to age 110 before there is a hint of any potential damage... To be honest, the AC power pulsating though the cables in the walls is probably more dangerous, especially if you coil up a cable somewhere... Make sure she switches off the LED clock by your bedside at night too.
