Time for an idle question. I wonder why the S-Bahn station in Sachsenhausen is called "Lokalbahnhof".
Very meaningless name. Surely something like "Sachsenhausen" would make more sense!
Yeti
Lokalebahnhof would make more sense for Sachsenhausen.
neilg
erm, maybe becuase the old Sachsenhausen bf had bad connotations?
Lassie
but sachsenhausen near frankfurt isn't the same as that sachsenhausen.
neilg
probably all the more reason to call it lokal bf then, otherwise I can see large numbers of tourist getting on a train to go and visit somewhere only to find they are somewhere else.
Wee Mun
it's a lokal bahnhof for lokal leute

Lokalbahnhof is not named because it is the station out of which the Frankfurter Lokalbahn AG once didn't operate.

no it was named after the Frankfurt-Offenbacher Lokalbahn which used this station as it Terminus in Frankfurt.
