Botanic gardens swap and buy market

Twice a year in Hamburg - every May and September

Anyone with green fingers could well be pleased to know about the biannual Botanic Gardens swap and buy market. The times are usually 09:00 to 14:00 hrs. Knowledge of German and the ability to ask questions in German may be required as the plants aren't usually labelled, or easily identifiable. Another market will take place in September.

S-Bahn (S1 green line - www.hvv.com) Klein Flottbek - between Blankenese and Altona. Parking is easy nearby. Map: http://stadtplan.hamburg.de

I might try and get down there early. smile.gif

Was in September... Got loads of plants!

The garden has more flowers in it than in July at the moment. July was so dry that many plants started flowering late. Over 150 Dahlias plus Roses etc.

those people swap plants or sell them cheap while by-passing local florists (who are no doubt trying to contribute to their local community but cannot because ...)

doesn't that make you angry, robert? no? ahhh, it ain't books or food. I see. we all gotta look out for number one and if it's cheap plants you need: there you go. ph34r.gif

Topic split: Small Hamburg book shop vs. Amazon and bookswappers

ps: actually an excellent place to get green things, that garden market. smile.gif

thanks hamburg chris.
