Next Sunday, May 21st in Substanz, we hold the third show of a new concert series. It's called The Adventure Club.

The bands are the best that Munich has to offer, plus some international acts (this time from the UK), carefully selected by The Adventure Club staff. The concept is different: the stage is already set up, the bands are not allowed to bring their own equipment but must play with whatever's on the stage... bands play two rounds each (yes, you get to see each band play two sets). Many TT'ers attended the first two shows and it was a good time. This month's bands are:

Kamerakino - Quirky, avant-garde, multi-talented, multi-instrumented. Franz Ferdinand has said that these guys are one of their favorite bands. Kamerakino has opened for FF a few times as well and Nick from FF used to play bass in KK. They will take you on a trip and pull you into their world... and that's a good thing.

JP Davies - Something different. A singer-songwriter from Oxford, UK who plays in a band called Agents of Jane. His voice is pure Manchester (where he is originally from). His melodies and lyrics cut through to your soul.

The Taste - I stumbled across this band playing live at Prager Fruehling last year and immediately fell in love with them. Apparantly, I wasn't the only one as they have been picked up as the support act for bands like We Are Scientists and Test Icicles. Rock and roll with a female vocalist that has a voice that ranks up there with Nina Persson from The Cardigans. Seriously...

Phil Vetter - Formerly of highly successful Munich band Big Jim, Phil Vetter has now gone solo and has built a solid band behind him. He describes his music as drinking coffee with good friends on a sunday morning, beeing in love on a summer day in 1969 and crusing the countryside in an old car... Melodic, soulful, simply fantastic.

So all in all, a cool, laid-back Sunday evening with lots of music. Bands play in rounds. In the first round, bands play for 10 minutes (around 2 songs). In the second round, bands play for 20 mintues (around 4-5 songs). No waiting for the stage to be set up. Pure, local, music. m94,5 DJs finish off the night afterwards... nice way to end a weekend.

Great Show last night!

Phil Vetter and the Dutch Goddess exceeded my expectations. For those English Comedy Club fans, Phil's one of the bar tenders at Substanz. Phil, his gorgeous Dutch wife and bass player (sorry, I didn't get your name drummer man) were brilliant!

The soloist who writes his own stuff was pretty hot too. As a former school teacher, he needs to teach me a lesson or two.

I give The Adventure Club two thumbs and both big toes up!
