Hello everyone!

The next South African Stammtisch will be on Saturday 6th of December 2003, 19h00 at Löwenbräukeller at Stiglmaierplatz (U1 Stiglmaierplatz). A table will be reserved for the 'Südafrikanischer Stammtisch'.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend myself (due to work commitments), but I hope that many of you will still make the effort to meet up. I'll see you all again at the Stammtisch in January!

Hello everyone!

The next Stammtisch will be on Saturday the 1st of May.

Provided the weather is good on the day, I thought it would be nice to meet at the Fasanerie lake for the first braai of the season (from 2pm onwards)!

Take the S1 towards the airport and get out at the Fasanerie station.
Here is a map of the area:
http://www.hot-maps.de/

Bring your braais & familys (unfortunately I remember that dogs aren't allowed) and hopefully the weather gods will play along!

Should the weather turn out to be rainy and cold, the alternative meeting place will be the Loewenbraeukeller at 7pm.

Cheers
Michelle

P.S. If you need my cell number for the day so as not to get lost etc, please PM me.
Silver_Angel

Plans for the SA Stammtisch / braai on the 1st of May have changed as follows:

One of the guys in the group came up with a suggestion yesterday about the braai... as it's the first outing this year where it's easier for people with kids to join us too, he thought it would be better to have the braai at Lerchenauer See as there's a kiddies playground. There's also a beergarden / restaurant, so in case the weather turns nasty while we're there, we can just move inside. Start of braai (2pm) remains unchanged.

Check here for exact location of the Lerchenauer See:
www.hot-maps.de
Put in 'München' and 'Lassallestr. 95' into the hot-maps.de search to find the exact location. (The kiddies playground and braai area is at the top end of the Lerchenauer See)

For all of you not fortunate enough to have a car, here are the easiest ways to get there by public transport:
1. Take the S1 (direction Freising/airport) to Feldmoching and there take the 83 bus (direction Georg-Brauchle-Ring) and get out at the Lerchenauer See stop.
2. Take the U1 (cirection Georg-Brauchle-Ring) to Georg-Brauchle-Ring and there take the 83 bus (direction Dülferstr) and get out at the Lerchenauer See stop.
For times of the buses ect, please check out the MVV website:
www.mvv-muenchen.de

Should the weather forecast make a braai impossible, the Loewenbraukeller (at U1 - stop Stiglmaierplatz) at 7pm will be the alternative meeting place for the Stammtisch.

Hope to see you there!

Cheers

Hello everyone!

The next SA Stammtisch will be on Saturday the 5th of June from 4pm onwards.

I thought this time round we'd have the Stammtisch in a beergarden.

The Hirschgarten in Laim has a nice atmosphere and is quite easy to get to. (Check here for details www.hirschgarten.de) Bring your own food or buy some there from the different types on offer. There's also a kiddies play area next to the beergarden. Best place to meet and sit is at the end directly at the deer enclosure, behind the booths where the food is sold.

Check details on where the Hirschgarten is:
http://www.hot-maps.de/
and then enter 'Königbauerstr.' in Munich to get the exact location.

Easiest way to get there by public transport:
Take the any S-Bahn to the S-Bahn station LAIM and then walk to the beergarden from there (about 10mins walk).

Unfortunately I will be working that Saturday so won't be able to join you all.

I will check the weather forecast in the week preceding the Stammtisch and will let you know should the beergarden afternoon have to be changed to a Stammtisch evening at the Loewenbraeukeller.

Cheers

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately the weather isn't playing along for our Stammtisch in the Hirschgarten on Saturday... rain is predicted the entire day! :-(

So as an alternative I have booked us a table at the Loewenbraeukeller (U1 Stiglmaierplatz) from 7pm onwards.

My shifts have changed aswell in the meantime, so I'll be able to join you and hope to see you all there!

Cheers

Hello everyone!

The next SA Stammtisch will be this coming Saturday the 3rd of July at the
Loewenbraeukeller (U1 Stiglmaierplatz) from 7pm onwards.

As the weather is very unpredictable at the moment I've opted to book us a table
inside the Lowenbraeukeller, but we can just move outside to their beergarden
should the weather be nice.

Hope to see you all there!

Hi All,

the February Stammtisch will take place on Saturday, the 5th of February from 19:00 onwards at Kilians Irish Pub! Most of you are familiar with Kilians but for those who are not, it is located at the rear side of the Frauenkirche, with the closest U-Bahn Station being Marienplatz. For more info log on to http://kiliansirishpub.moonfruit.com/ . Kilians usually fills up pretty quickly, so pls make sure you get there early, as some reserved places might be given away after an hour or so.

More tea, Vicar?

Daar is baaie Suid Afrikaanse mense in die Outland (Rosenheimer Platz).

Howzit Mense!

Please note that the May Stammtisch will take place this Saturday. Unfortunatley there is a 90% chance of rain on Saturday, hence the Stammtisch will take place indoors! The venue will be "Wirtshaus zur Brez'n" in Schwabing. The easiest way to get there via public transport is the U-Bahn. Exit the U3 or U6 at Münchner Freiheit & walk along Leopoldstrasse towards Giselastrasse U-Bahn station. It is located on the left side of the road about a 5 minute walk from Münchner Freiheit. More information can be found under http://www.zurbrezn.de/ . I have booked the table from 19:15-19:30, would be great if you could get there early!

Furthermore, the Munich Saffers website is being set up & a temp website will be online within the next week. The URL will be www.sa-munich.com

Do not hesitate in contacting me on below contact details, should you have any further questions!

the June Stammtisch will take place as a braai at Westpark on Saturday, 4th of June from noon onwards. I will send out a further email with a back-up venue about a week prior to the event, should the lovely summer rain continue at the time!

The website is still being developed & I will let you know once the temp version is online. My apologies for the delay!

Attached you will find an info mail from our SA neighbours down in Switzerland, for those of you who might be in the area at that time!

Do not hesitate in contacting me on below contact details, should you have any further questions!

Howzit Mense,

sorry for the late notice, the July Stammtisch will take place this Saturday, 2nd July!

I will not be here this weekend, but Max will be helping with the organization.

The weather forecast shows that it will be hot with a 40% chance of rain. The Stammtisch will start at 18:00, so die plan van aksie is:

1. If the weather is good (ie. not raining), it will be held at the Chinese Tower Beergarden in the English Garden (http://www.chinaturm.de/). They will be looking for places towards the right of the main entrance. If unsure, give Max a call on below contact details.

2. If the weather is kak (ie. raining), everyone will meet at the "Wirtshaus zur Brez'n" (http://www.zurbrezn.de/), also at 18:00.

Max will be available on his cell phone (PM me/maddul if you need the cell phone number).

Hope many of you wll be able to make it!

So, who's all going to the Stammtisch on the 17th?
Is it still on? Do we sign up somewhere, RSVP?

Are there any Saffers here for the holiday season?

(or are you all enjoying the sunshine, braaivleis, boerewors, biltong... in sunny SA)
melrose
I take it I'm the only Saffer left in town, or what? Anyone going to this thing on Saturday? Remember, SA Christmas Stammtisch is this Saturday. (I don't wanna go alone)

Howzit Mense!

Its been a bit since our last stammtisch in December but finally after months of cold weather and hibernation I am pleased to inform of the plans for the February Stammtisch.

The restaurant is located near Marienplatz but check their website with more details on how to get there :

Once again, seeing there is SOME planning involved, it would be NICE if the people that know they are definitely coming, could RSVP myself or Victor so we can have a rough idea on how many places to reserve (at least a couple of days before).

Have a great week,

Cheers for now,

max

P.S. For discussion on the stammtisch and or future venues for stammtisches then please let us know your suggestions or discuss them online in the forum of our website :

Aren't there any other takers for the South African evening? Just for info are you aware that this clashes with the Italian evening that Streeme is organising at La Fiorentena... maybe that's why response is slow...
let me know the status as am interested in both but seems like the SA group is a tad small... however would like to meet some fellow South Africans and may possibly have another person to bring along too...
FranB
whoops - too much wine and sunshine this w/e realise that Streeme's event is on 27th and the South African evening is next Sat the 29th - sorry... count us in... and will see if I can raise a few more...
maddul
right now we are at about 20 peeps confirmed for the stammtisch. Wouldnt say its that small.

cheers and see you there
