QUOTE
So Maaph, the ball is in your court now to open a thread about a meet-up for the footy on 10th June...

Your wish is my command - consider thread opened.

And now?

Kick-off is at 15:00, but my guess is that we should meet latest 13:30 to get a spot in the pub. Talking of which, suggest one of the Irish pubs, Barneys / Corkonian or Jamesons. Not sure yet if there will be any big screens set up, and if so if they will be showing any "non-German" games, but may be another option (but without bogs?).

IMPORTANT NOTICE - It will not be like the England v Wales qualifier where people were constantly gassing and cutting the pockets off young ladies jeans (*) .. no, this is hard-core footy watching. Talking is allowed (but preferably only at half-time), and must relate to the game. Asking which colour England are in, discussing David Beckhams hair, or lewd bawdy comments about the legs of the Paraguayan number 8 are forbidden. Girls may want to make use of the fabulous shopping opportunities around Köln City ph34r.gif

(*) although on second thoughts ... rolleyes.gif

I assume, maaph, that anyone watching will be allowed to rip Crouch to shreds without you throwing a hissy fit? ph34r.gif

Isn't that match in Frankfurt?

you'd be right there PM .. but as I have no ticket, I have no need to journey down to FFM - taxi ride from there when beered up is a little beyond my means.

Word has it that "rip off" Vince has acquired two new plasma screens for Jamesons and he is using this as justification for hoiking his prices up over the World Cup.

I'm not sure if it is only for the Sweden game or not but he reckons the police will be blocking off the road outside as the area is seen as an English enclave, and so he is going to have a beer barrow outside.

Barney's are still humming and ahing about what they will be doing.

As far as I understand it will be business as usual in the Corkonian.

The big screens are in Heumarkt (just off the Altermarkt) and in Roncalliplatz (outside the Dom).

Barneys will be "closed" - at least to anyone who's not a regular.

Hi,
This is actually my first post to the BB, so unsure whether this is legal considering the importance of the topic.
Assuming there are no special qualifications or initiation rites necessary, I would definitely be interested in joining your footparty, even if there's standing room only. I have endured enough England games on German TV with & without biased commentary and have vowed never to watch Eurosport 'highlights' again (where they make you sit through 2 hours of Israel vs Albania etc, before announcing the England result at 1:15 am and switching to Motocross).
