That one in the 4-2 against Portsmouth is a beauty!
Could well be an exciting prospect for the World Cup.

Now now. Don't be mean. Theo Walcott has proven week in, week out that he has far more skill than most of the has-beens in the championship or second division or first division or whatever that league is called nowadays.
The boy has talent, of that there is no doubt, but his woeful lack of top flight experience is a worry. Still, we could have had Heskey picked or, worse still, Sutton

Right foot, left foot, it doesn't matter what foot. I only hope Eriksson actually allows the boy to get on to a pitch in Germany.

Don't forget that Sven can replace Rooney up to 24 hours before the opening game if he knows he won't be fit so it isn't all doom and gloom. Plus it is only a provisional squad so maybe he will change it and add another striker anyway.

Actually the more I look at the squad the more I like it. Admittedly I would still have stuck King in instead of Campbell as we have have enough centre backs to take a slight gamble on his fitness.
Also another striker instead of Jenas or Hargreaves but apart from that it looks like a team that has the balance to play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 depending on the players at his disposal.
And I think taking some of the younger players is great. No complaints about Lennon and Downing and not even Walcott. Maybe he will play and be awesome, maybe he won't play but even if not it's great experience for one of our best prospects for the future.

This is true, and a good moment I think for some Arsenal-bashing
If Arsenal had let Walcott play, rather than a bunch of foreigners who in four weeks' time will be playing
against England rather than
in England, then we wouldn't be in this situation. I think this is a good example of why there need to be controls on the number of foreigners playing in English teams. If all Premiership clubs adopted the Arsenal/Chelsea approach, we'd be looking to the lower leagues for our national players.

I totally agree with you there but Wenger knows what he is doing and Walcott will be a prominant feature of the Arsenal line-up in years to come. Even if there was a limit on foreigners I doubt in would have affected the Arsenal attacking line-up due to the quality they have.
Walcott will get his chance next year after Henry has left

I don't think there's a problem with foreign players in the current British set up. If every player in the Premier League was foreign, then the Championship would be as strong as a Premier League with no foreigners, and so picking England players from it would not be a bad thing!
As long as the Premiership continues to attract the best players in the world, then having foreigners only strengthens our national team's chances, by giving our best players the top class opposition they need to improve themselves against, and the best players to train with.
If we were like Scotland, and all the foreigners were nothing but journeymen who were cheaper than the equivalently skilled locals, then there would be a problem. But as it is, I believe the likes of Henry are making our English players stronger, and are a large part of the reason the English team now has so many world class players compared to other tournaments.
Walcott training alongside Henry or Alan Smith? Which do you think will result in a better player?
