Heinz Stücke, 65-year-old globetrotter from Hövelhof (Nordrhein-Westfalen), has been traveling the world with the same 3-speed bike since 1962. This week, after 530,000km of service, the bike was stolen from outside his tent during a stay in Portsmouth (UK). "I would do anything to get it back", he says.
(I couldn't find a newer site, this one is per 1999)

Yea and this was in pompey. So if he wants to find it i would recomend going to HMS Nelson where it will have been left by the main gate after some drunken Matelot used it to get back to the dockyard casue he couldnt be arsed get a taxi.

"the cyclist was reunited with his bicycle after it was found abandoned in a park. "

More likely to be students from Portsmouth Poly Uni than any of the Navy fraternity...

Story

Apparrently he is only "quite happy" that he's got the bike back. The one the police gave him must have been way better.
sarabyrd
I'm glad he got it back, he would have been Stucke in the UK without it.
Small Town Boy
"Quite happy" is probably a mis-translation of "ganz glücklich"; 'ganz' translates at "quite" but can also mean "really very..."

The only experience I've had with this was when an ex's bike went missing from outisde the pub, and was returned to the same place the following day with a note apologising and saying that he'd been drunk and wanted to get home.
