I saw this programme advertised on German TV (not sure which channel; if terrestrial, local or no) and wondered if anyone had heard of it or seen it.
Apparently House, M.D. is an American TV series but it stars none other than British comedian/actor Hugh Laurie (of Jeeves, Blackadder and Fry & Laurie fame predominantly).
Here's some info on it:
IMDB database.I haven't seen it dubbed into German, has anyone seen either this or the original?
It's on UK tv... supposed to be fab. Not sure about Hugh Laurie dubbed though.

I've been watching this in English. I am on series two now. fantastic shhow and quite addictive, despite many episodes following the same basic pattern.

Agree with OG - was watching it on Five in the UK before I came over. Very dark, but funny. Very good indeed.

OG - You were being optimistic there. Thank the lord for SKY. Sorry, I meant Rupert Murdoch, not the same thing at all!

I've been watching this for awhile now and love it, despite the fact that it's the same thing every episode.
- Patient X comes in with unidentifiable disease, which at first appears to be a minor skin rash.
- Said unidentifiable disease starts getting more and more complicated.
- House makes a list on the whiteboard, crossing out every affliction as it's ruled out.
- House thinks it's the least likely scenario. Everyone else tells him he's wrong
- Unimportant side plot occurs that just goes to show that House is always right.
- Patient goes into cardiac arrest and almost dies.
- At the end of aforementioned unimportant side plot, House has an epiphany that tells him the disease is not Y rare disease but Z rare disease.
- House saves the day and proves everyone else wrong.
- Patient X lives happily ever after.

Haha great synopsis! sounds like good chilling out TV à la Teletubbies with the repetiton
Think I watched the first episode ages ago but didnt find it particularly gripping. Prison Break is getting damn exciting though, still it doesnt beat Oz as far as prison dramas go.

What do they put in the water in TV hospitals. Did you ever notice that nobody ever gets the runs in those shows ?
(Somebody is bound to post that HBO have a show planned for the fall called "Squirts")

Good show. We like guessing along with the Doctors what the disease could be. We're almost always wrong.
Just for you Yeti, the last episode we watched had a young boy with bloody diahrrea in it.

Hugh Laurie's great and all, but I'm not convinced by this show.

I've seen a couple episodes while in the US and while they were interesting, IPJ nailed it with the synopsis. Scrubs is better.

Hugh Laurie is good but his American accent leaves a lot to be desired. I still like ER best but House is good as it is more quirky.

I wonder how they'd dub a fake US accent from a British actor into German..
Interesting question, I always find it perversly amusing that russian, indian etc, characters in english tv shows always get spoken by broken german accents when overdubbed.

Answer: Using a crappy German "voice actor" you recognise from 12 other characters including the purple Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Mr Garrison and which is not only totally void of any inflection but also sounds nothing like the original actor's voice, and which comes across as a sulking 15-year-old required to read his essay to the class.

I watched a very old Dallas re-run at the hairdressers recently. They used a man with a voice that sounded like a newsreader to Dub ol JR. Sounded like he was going over the Stock exchange results. And they didn't call him JR, they called him Herr JR.

Actually I think he does a great job with the accent. I wouldn't have known he's not American if I hadn't been told.

I like how all "Frenchie" characters are dubbed with a gay sounding voice and all "Ruskie" characters sound like I would imagine that Ivan the Terrible would.
