Blocking an IP address on a network router

hi all,

i have a small problem which i cant solve and i really really hope someone could help me in this.

i just recently had a dsl connection installed in my room, which is in the university's hostel. And now i am planning to share my dsl with a friend of mine, which lives in the same floor with me, through the hostel's LAN network. well, it worked, but it seem, not only he can access to my dsl, but the whole community of the hostel.

before i go on, i just wanna u guys know that i am using speedport w 500v and netgear 5port switch.

i have tried to change the ip address of the router, and still there is someone connected to the router ( other than my friend), well, i know this because i checked the logbuch sicherheit under details, the log will show all the computers connected to the router.

so, to make it simple, i wanna block other people from connectin to my router, and i need a way to block them. the other version of speedport (without wlan) seems have the capability to block/allow ip addresses, but not the one i got.

someone, pls help me to solve this, i have read the router's manual many times, and i still cant find a solution.

i will check out my router tonight, it is the same one. how about the budget settings?
set up a budget for you and your mate and all others will have 0mb. to test it just add one of your computers in the budget the other not. see if you can access the internet with that one

thanks mate for the suggestion, and i have tried it, well it doesnt seems to work, but i m suspecting my lack of german knowledge is the cause.

maybe u can givme some instruction that i can follow.

so, just wanna share some of the xperience,

i cant set budget to 0, it requires some value
i need to übernehmen the pc's to allow specific budgets
i set for other pc's budget to 1mb,and internet trennen
i dunno what went wrong, i and my friend got categories by the router as other pc's

i didt change my tcp/ip setting, it is empty, and i didnt put any values, but for my friend, i had to put the router's ip in the dns, then only he can connect to the router.

so, once again, im lost. i hope my xplaination is clear, if u need more details, i can even giv images to show my settings.
