Anyone know where I can get good legal advice? Does Munich have any legal aid centres? Having a bit of a dispute with my employer. Or any good lawyers?

Hiya

good and free might be pushing it! And if you are looking for advice in English then...anyway maybe someone might get in touch (but you might have to be more specific as it is a pretty large field).
*scratches head, not thinking of any specific names (not me though)*
There have been quite a few threads posted on employment law topics so it might be worth using the search function, there are certainly threads about resignation periods and unemployment.

The Verbraucherzentralen can often offer good advice (often for free), if you are a member of a trade union or professional organisation then legal advice might be available through them too.

Students at certain universities can get free legal advice from their university too.

The ARD Ratgeber Recht website is a very useful tool (German only), as is their database.

Munich Found has an ad for a Rechtsanwalt/Solicitor (i.e. German/English qualified) specialising in business and business crime: www.westermannlaw.com

...and for Monika Berger "Attorney at Law" - "serving the needs of individual and business clients" - Tel 089/162248 or email to berger-cornet-law@t-online.de

I found some information online on the possibility of getting legal aid here:

europa.eu.int / health / legal aid in Germany

...but it looks like old information (amounts in DM). Does anyone know anything about this? I think I will be in need of legal advice very shortly...

I need a lawyer but I am, as usual broke. My last lawyer wiped me out and did nothing ´cept plunder my bank account.

Anybody any advice?
This is serious stuff, honest.

It depends on what you need the lawyer for. I've had to contact 2 different lawyers in my time here because of their area of expertise.

Need help in a big way guys.

In Hamburg there's the ÖRA (Öffentliche Rechtsauskunft) where you can get free legal advice.
My guts and my experience tell me: Nothing like it in Munich.
Hope my guts are wrong here...

What's up Bigtoe? Detail your situation here and someone may be able to offer advice.

Are you a (German) lawyer, then?

I can do plenty of "something just like this happened to the cousin of the step-dad of my cleaning woman, no kidding" - advice.

Alas, it's usually not very helpful ... might be entertaining, though ph34r.gif

Will2Write, I would love to tell you but it is way too risky to post on an open forum.

Simply, I feel as if I am could suddenly end up in big trouble if I do what my employer is asking me to do.

do NOT carry them drugs on your body when you leave Bogota !!!
bigtoe
I won't.

sorry, chap, only kidding.

I really don't know about free legal advice in them CSU/CDU run states.
BUT: There's this new chain of cheap lawyers (forgot what it's called - McAnwalt for all I remember) where they might not offer free but at least cheapish advice.

Then: If it's trouble with your employer - have you tried the unions? They might well help you even if you aren't a member (they will want you to join for the favour, of course).

Allright dimmer, thanks for the info, lets see what happens. Now I gotta go call Pablo about packaging.

There are places where you can get legal advice for free or for not much cost.
München Stadtjugendamt
Verbraucherzentrale
Churches, unions, charities... think the other threads on custody have some good links.

Hi All

Does anyone know a professional and cost - effective English speaking lawyer in Munich? I have a what I see as fairly simple consumer rights problem.

The 2 TT advertisers have both fallen at the first fence in quite a worrying fashion.

Side point- when will Lawyers, Doctors and Bankers in Germany realise they are just service providers, nothing more.

Any recommendations greatly received...

Does anyone know a decent english speaking lawyer, as i am trying to chase up our old landlord to return the caution from our apartment. As far as i was aware they (Landlords) can make you wait up to 6 months before even enteraining any question regarding the return of the Money. I'm now living home in Ireland 7months so tryed to contact the DEMON woman (who's a lawyer herself) about our cash, and as she has no HEART for Auslaenders, just keeps hanging up on me. I had planned to do it all by the book but as she wont even answer my call i'd like to take this as high as I can.

I am having trouble with a business whose property I damaged. I am happy paying for the damage but they are claiming I must purchase what I damaged as well. They have a contract that I signed, however I don't believe this contract was binding in the particular situation I was in.

I would like a lawyer to look at the contract and tell me how the law or a court would interpret it. Does anyone have a recommendation? The lawyer does not have to be English speaking, German is fine.

Thanks!
