"ATTENTION " Pls, since you get Hirsch beergarten, just ask for the "American Stammtisch" reserved table, you can ask the staff or ask from the reservation. I'd reserved the table with this name.

So we will not need the flag from the Republic of Vermont?
fraufruit
Which staff in self service do we ask? The rib server or the mass washer?

Yeah, I'll still bring it, whether or not we need it. I'd be surprised if everyone knew about our Stammtisch. But then again, I'm surprised they even have reservations in the first place, so who knows, this place could continue to surprise me.

Just to be clear: the reservation is outside in the self service area right?

Also: That is the State of VT flag, the republic of Vermont is a little different, or sometimes, a lot different

For those wanting directions to the Hirschgarten, click here and then on "Anfahrtsplan" to download a pdf of a map. With the train, take any S-Bahn to Laim (3 stops west of the Hauptbahnhof). Then follow the map 5-10 minutes (?) to the Hirschgarten.

The S is indeed very close.
If you take the tram, get on 16 or 17 and get off at Steubenplatz or Kriemhildenstr. The number 51 bus goes there too.

Just to clarify, it is an American Stammtisch. I don't know how this has been organized in past years, but at least in my view it is not a private party. If non-Amis desire to come and speak Amerikanisch rather than proper Englisch, that's OK with me. In March when we had the first Stammtisch in a while, 2 Germans came (one married to an American). In May I think we were all Amis. Looking forward to Friday! smile.gif
DDBug
That means my mom is ok then? She's been married to a brit for over 20 years and living on the island for over 10 - she talks funny now. laugh.gif
James_Runner
Yes, but only because she's your mom (um, Mum). wink.gif

I am still rather confused about whether the table will be in the self-service area (and thus, I should bring food), or in the waiter-service area (in which case I will arrange to rob a bank to pay for the exporbitantly overpriced biergarten food). Either way, looking forward to it.

I just saw the weather report, and it's due to rain on Friday. Any chance of changing the venue (to somewhere easier to get to with an indoor option)?

Hi I would like to come on Friday too. I see that we are meeting at Hirschgarten but at what time? I couldn't find it in the thread..
Thanks so much and looking forward to meeting everyon.

Hi! I would really love to come, but unfortunately I'm not around this Friday nor the 4th of July date...total bummer. Is there anyway to get an email update newsletterish type thing to keep me on track? That would be great!

I'm totally new to this Beergarden thing, haven't been to one yet, do we bring the food and share or does everyone bring it for themselves?
James_Runner
It's not a potluck or picnic. Bringing your own food is perfectly OK. And you can of course purchase food there. Guten Appetit!
BigEnglish2008
Don't worry about looking for flags, just walk into the beer garden and listen for the loudest table !!!

Looking forward to eating some Cheetos!!! Welcome back!

Hey! ohmy.gif
dmbartender
a Stammtisch sounds sweet. I'd like to come too, if I can make it from rosenheim.

Cheetos own.
DDBug
Fair warning to all - IF I make it, all crunchy cheetos are fair game. And I take no prisoners. ph34r.gif

(However, the odds are now 50/50 that I can make it, so there may not be any minor cheetos-induced beergarten skirmishes to worry about smile.gif )

Food - bring your own/share/or buy there. The only rule is you cannot bring your own beer. Beverages must be purchased at the Beergarden.

Who amongst us are bringing kids? I have my 5yr old stepdaughter tomorrow, and I was going to leave her with my husband; however, if there are going to be other kiddies there, then I may bring her along.

She only speaks German though.

Would have been, but not with this weather. However, keep in touch, I have 7 and 11 year old boys (bilingual) so I try to bring them out on occasion.
Kat
Why cancel? We could find an indoor option. If we act quickly, I'm sure we could get reservations at a restaurant.
Kat
Suggestion:Pizzeria dal Cavaliere
Weißenburger Str. 3, 81667 München, Germany - +49 89 488388
Right by the Rosenheimerplatz S-Bahn exit
Easy to get to - Good food
DDBug
Damn, I've taken something out of the freezer already, but that does look like a good suggestion.
oh_angela
I'm wondering if Pizzeria dal Cavaliere is big enough for 20+people. If not, how about Hofbrauhaus or Hard Rock Cafe? Both are big enough to accommodate all of us.

Edit: I just checked www.wetter.de and it doesn't seem like it's going to rain tonight. Maybe there is hope! wink.gif Yeah, i'm also not fond of both of the places that I suggested...a bit loud and touristy.
Kat
Alternatively, maybe we could invade the Friday Biergarten group, who, in their wisdom, booked an indoor option here:
The Feuerberg. Vossstr. 15 A short walk from Kolumbusplatz U5
http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&r...l=en&tab=wl
There will be Brits there, but since they love us Amis so, I'm sure they will welcome us. ;-)

Edit: Angela's idea is fine too (though I can't say I'm overly fond of either place)

We need a consensus quick. I expect we'll lose half of the signed-up in the shuffle anyway.
I vote we go for Oh Angela's Hofbrauhaus suggestion, for lack of anything better.
ella_b
yes. somewhere inside please. but anything but the hard rock café. there is a place that might be perfect in Schwabing on the corner of Schellingstr. and Barer Str. it is large inside. it is not brewery, but a local hangout complete with pool tables. they serve german food (spätzle, etc.), and of course, bier. i don't think there would be any problem with just showing up, but since the group is theoretically so large, i could confirm with them once they open.
