My bad Gen... it was sarcasm wink.gif
Gen
Sorry, mine was deadpan. wink.gif Too rushed to look for the exact Keydeck quote I'm referring to, which I could have sworn was an answer to you personally...
James_Runner
Thanks, everyone, who made this such a fun time. Toward the beginning we were around 10 people having dinner, and after a couple hours it was more like 20 people mingling over drinks. The service from that (non-German!) waiter was really superb, and his bringing a complimentary round of tequila shots around 21.30 was a really nice touch. Did anybody get the waiter's name, so we could request him another time?

There seemed to be interest in going this again next month. Please post preferences for the next date and place. I could organize the next one but would happily follow someone else's initiative (Indiana_Girl and oh_angela come to mind). Prost!
TexMunich
I had a great time too. Enjoyed an evening not having to answer those "What do Americans...?" questions. We wrapped up around 1100. Excellent service.

Some people went pub crawling afterwards.
fraufruit
It was a nice meetup, indeed. Thanks for organizing it.

We even had Peeps! He thought of everything, I tell ya.

How would Friday, May 16 be for the next American Stammtish in Munich? Suggestions concerning date and venue welcome.
mudshark
That's good for my and my spouse. We'll think about a place. We are omnivores so just about any place is good for us.
fraufruit
I'm traveling and will be back May 17. Darn!

oh_angela
How about Outland in Rosenheimerplatz? Is it too small?
James_Runner
I haven't been to the Outland restaurant, but that would be fine with me. If they cannot accommodate our reservation, would anyone be up for Greek food? There's a Greek restaurant on Türkenstraße (just down the street from Sausolito's, where we met last time). Excellent food, reasonable prices. I went there with a group of 12 or so colleagues, and we received royal treatment.
thefirelane
Biergarten! smile.gif
James_Runner
Good idea. Anyplace in particular?
thefirelane
I'm a big fan of the Chinese tower, because I'm lazy... or the Augustiner because it is a very good one.
oh_angela
Actually, a biergarten sounds excellent and the chinesischen turm would be an ideal place to meet since almost everyone knows where it is. My only concern is the unpredictable weather and how much light we will have depending on what time we meet. Is it also possible to reserve tables in a biergarten?

Another option (if it rains) is Bukowski's close to Muenchner Freiheit or Cafe Puck on Tuerkenstrasse. James, the Greek place also sounds nice. So, i guess we have a few options!!! smile.gif
James_Runner
It seems like we're on for Friday, May 16. Weather permitting, the Chinese Tower sounds great. I'll scope out a table by 6:30 p.m. and be wearing my Chicago Cubs baseball cap. To those signed up in advance, I'll send my Handy number as well. The sign-up list:

1. James_Runner
2. thefirelane
3. oh_angela
4.

If it looks like bad weather, I can look for an indoor restaurant nearby. (The aforementioned Greek restaurant is never busy, and Sausolito's may also be an option on short notice; both are about 15 minutes from the Chinese Tower).
oh_angela
I can probably get there earlier (between 5:30 and 6:00) to look for tables. i'll even take a couple of table covers with to "reserve" a spot for us!
James_Runner
Super idea! Thanks. If it's really beautiful weather outside I really need a beer, I may come earlier.
DJMunich
I just recently moved here from Los Angeles, so I'm gonna have to say I'm In like Flynn.

I'd love to get to know a few people from the other side of the pond... smile.gif

I'll most likely be the only one wearing dark sunglasses, since I've come to notice I get funny looks when I wear them around town here... I guess it's just a habit from back home.

Bottom line, I'll be there. Count me in! cool.gif

I hope to attend.

We should see about adding a sign-up sheet to this section; similar to the one they use for Curry Night.

Glad you're hoping to come. 'Tis a fine idea, but I think that's only allowed for weekly TT events.

Hey, maybe this could be the start of something. Maybe not a weekly meetup, but perhaps a bi-weekly or monthly meetup...
davo
I'm gonna try and attend. Would be good to connect with some more Ami's. I can also get there on the early side.
Hope to meet y'all on the 16th...

Hey all, if you have room, I'd like to attend! I'm another newbie to the area.
Chicago Cubs? Guess I shouldn't wear my Red Sox cap then. smile.gif
James_Runner
Since we'll be outside at a Biergarten, there's not a limit to the number of people who can come. It's more a question of knowing how much table space to scope out. So if you want to come, just add your name to the list. smile.gif

You should wear your Red Sox cap for sure!! I've lived in Beantown for nearly 4 years and three blocks away from Fenway Park! A BIG fan and looking forward to meeting you so we can talk smack.
hilaryf
@oh angela

Hey, I ALSO lived three blocks away from Fenway Park! Queensbury Street?
I still don't know if I can make it to the meetup or not, but I would definitely like to meet some more americans here. Also, would it be okay if I bring my german boyfriend? He, of course, speaks very good english.

If i can come, I'll add my name to the list later!

Hey guys, sorry but i won't be able to make it early enough to save tables with the Tischdecke. But i'm sure there will be plenty of space at the Chinesischen Tuerm. The question is, where should we go if it does happen to rain? see you guys soon!!!
Mac-lili
Hi All,

I'm new in Munich and don't know the rolleyes.gif Toytown's meeting up, my question is, the others are welcome to the meeting up?
Swede
Won't make it after all...running late at work sad.gif

Next time!
oh_angela
Okay guys, i will make it out there at 6:15 and scope out tables. Keep an eye out for a little Asian girl sitting by a table that has straw mats with green edges. Bis bald!

Yes, by all means come along! Looks like lovely weather after all. smile.gif I'll be the guy with the Chicago Cubs Baseball cap.
thefirelane
heh, maybe I'll throw on the Obama t-shirt, just to stand out smile.gif
littlered2006
Was confused about last message about saving tables... still meeting at the Chinese Tower, correct?
