I´m up for a meeting, but starting Monday again. My spontaneity was slowly killed by living here too long. I now always have to check my calendar for time slots to fit social activities in. How sad is that?

perhaps less to do with spontaneity and more to do with a full dance card.
Munich will do that to a Utah-girl, won't it?

I'm all for beergartens, but it's hardly American.
As Americans, shouldn't we meet go and find the best American food in town?

But how will we know which Mc Donald's to choose?

Eating with hands seems American...perhaps a good chicken wing joint or a rib joint like
Rusticana? A slab of ribs, a bib and a weissbier! MMMM!

I'll tell you the stupidest thing I ever saw... I was with my English friends at lunch. And a couple of them ordered an appetizer platter- with onion rings, jalepeno poppers, mozarella sticks, etc. And they ate all of it with a fork and knife.

It was wrong.

There´s nothing more American than a good Mexican place ... Sausalito´s (on Türkenstrasse), or
Tacos y Tequila? For eating with our hands, how about the
Blue Nile? It´s Ethiopean, but gooood stuff.

did they at least wash it down with a nice brew?
Reminds me of the first pizza we had when I moved to Ohio as a kid.
I laughed when I saw people eat pizza with a knife and fork. [no, wasn't Thetagirl] Here, ya almost hafta, though.
Ethiopian food? have we invaded? In general, I'm game, but not really under the AIM theme, eh?
Rusticana is good but can be a bit loud, and perhaps too small to get a reservation for a TT event. That place can only hold like 40 or so and I understand they are usually packed.
McDonald's --- are you serious? (yeah, are you Roebuck, who's watching the store?)

HI, New Ami in town, wondering if this meetup will happen anytime. I'd be really interested in meeting some other Americans here. Any Biergarten plans for this long easter weekend??

Probably 17:00-18:00 for me though.
Ruthie

YES, depending on the weather...or...Sausalito´s in Türkenstrasse? Their back garden is open when the weather is good...can you tell I am craving fajitas?

I can't make it this weekend.

I'm up for it...am somewhat new to both Munich and Toytown and it would be great to meet some more Americans. Are German partners invited too or is this strictly Amis? I promise, mine has a stronger American accent than I do...oh yeah, anything Mexican works for me.
See ya Friday!

I can't do Friday. If you meet have fun. If you pick another day I can go!

Can you join even though you're "only" a US resident not born&raised? (however don't think I can this Fri)
I have the accent and consider it home, and I miss talking to Americans... :-(

My vote is: All are welcome, let’s make this a ‘melting pot’
Oh yeah: NO CANADIANS!
(just kidding)

Anyway, so it seems this Friday is out? Lets do a beer garden some sunny weekend!

HEy guys, sorry I started the plans and then dropped out -- got sick. Next Friday is great, too...
Are there still plans for a meetup? Depending on the time/place I would probably join

Just wondering when the next meeting will be. Have lived in Europe for many years and in Munich for the last two and would love to meet up when you do get together.
It'd be cool to know what others are doing in this city. If anyone regularly goes to the center of town (I work near the Opera) - we could go for coffee/drink and try to plan s.thing.

So far, I've only been to the
Chinese Tower, which is good... but I'm up for anything. It would be nice to have something shady with lots of trees.
Lynn
Apr 27 2007, 12:47 pm
Yeah, trees are better than hot open spaces if we all want to stay fresh. I usually take my bike to the
Flaucher, but I'd also like to discover something new. Otherwise the
Chinese Tower sounds good because it is centrally located. I'm even thinking of also going to tonight's Augustiner meeting. Will see. How about time? I'm open, let me know what's best...

I like the idea of the Augustiner on Arnulfstr Never been there, either. I'm only free after 7 tonight. But if planning for Tuesday is easier for everyone. Let's do it then.

Apr 27 2007, 12:56 pm
OK for Tuesday then. Let's see who will join us now...
Lynn
Apr 27 2007, 1:02 pm
This sounds like fun! A bunch of people who don't know each other meeting up. Is late morning or early afternoon good for everyone? I have to be at the airport at 7p.m.. So I just need enogh time to get the alcohol level in my blood down by then...
Lynn
Apr 27 2007, 2:21 pm
OK. Since nobody responded to a time proposal yet, is after lunch or late afternoon better? I don't mind drinking apfelschorle, either.

Apr 27 2007, 2:25 pm

I'm probably in for this. I have no plans at all yet for Tuesday, so any time works for me. I don't mind drinking in the morning, either.

Hee, hee. I'm not keen on talking to myself, but don't mind it in order to pick up on someone else's lifeline. I have the day off (for once) and am enjoying a cold Tegernseer beer and catching some rays on my balcony. I suppose others are to busy or bored to respond. To
pep things up- if any of you enjoy salsa dancing, I am also up for organizing a salsa outing some day...

Ok I'm making an executive decision...lets meet at 12 at the augustiner...one problem is i dont know where that is? Can someone put an address or ubahn stop...and is there a place we could meet out front??
I think I will join on Tuesday as well...I've never been here either, but here is the website with directions...

so is the americans in Munich meet-up for non-TT regulars only? I'm scared of the freaks that are too normal to be TT freaks.
Lynn
Apr 27 2007, 7:22 pm
I just hope we are all freaks. I think we'll have a good time. 12 at the Augustiner sounds good to me, too. I just have to check out the site to make sure I show up at the right one!

Went to the Waldwirtscaft "
Wawi" this evening. Just thought I'd share with you all the idea of also one day visiting this Biergarten. Nice place. They have live music everyweekend. Anyway, to keep the chat going as regards to Tuesday, if 12 sounds good to everyone, give me some input. If the weather report changes to rain, I can reserve a table for us. Hope everyone's having a good weekend.
