The muffin man that lives on Drury Lane?
No I think he got eaten in Shrek II, the other one from the song or something...

If nobody wanna do it, I will come up with a plan
The quick cut and paste answer:
"The muffin man is seated at the table in the laboratory of the utility muffin
Research kitchen... reaching for an oversized chrome spoon he gathers an
Intimate quantity of dried muffin remnants and brushing his scapular aside
Procceds to dump these inside of his shirt...
He turns to us and speaks:
Some people like cupcakes better. I for one care less for them!"
Thursday might work for me roots. do it at the park cafe and we can switch between the practise german and american meetups.
Yes, Roots dear, please do. Just somewhere central please? Some bits of
Schwabing can be a pain to get to. Edit: Park Cafe is a good idea. I'm for it.

People who can quote Zappa deserve massive positive karma. Bongo Fury is a tremendous album (yes, I know it's probably on loads of others, but that's the one that I like).

Ah Upquark! I didn't know you cared!

But he was a muffin
He hung around till you found
That he didn’t know nuthin’"

so which Thursday are we talking about? 4,11,18?
yes.

4 or 11 sounds good to me. I vote 4 only because it comes before 11.
ps: why was 6 afraid of 7? because 7 ATE 9. Get it? HAHAHAHAHAHA. I need a drink.

Thursday 4 is good for me. What time?
where? I was kidding about the park cafe - it would be *very* crowded - chinese turm always works for me but dont know if i can make it as have guests in town.
roots
Aug 1 2005, 2:31 pm
well, the weather forecast for Thursday evening is rain so Chinese Turm is prolly not a good idea.
Maybe The Twisted Bavarian?

ok, I haven't been to AIM event before so I don't know how many people normally attend. Gimme an approx number and I will pick a nice bar somewhere in the center. Unless ofcourse you all agree on Kat's TB suggestion.
I was also gonna suggest
Buena Vista near Viktualian market. Very nice place.

TB sounds great! One or two more of u.s. for Thursday...if y'all promise not to make any more number jokes.

"AIM" = Anthony In Munich
I'm up for this yank'n event.
Of course, no one who refers to us as "yanks" should be allowed.
TB sounds good, especially since its last minute and they wont mind a bunch of loud americanos.

Unfortunately, I'm already allocated for Thursday. Otherwise, I'd love to chat about how Christ can change my life, compare guns, ignore great literature and/or world events and all of the other fun things that Americans do.
Anthony, you'd rather have American, gringo, gaijin?

No, don't need "seppo" or "ami" or "hakujin" either. Gee, guess I don't like any of the nicknames; they're all a bit negative.
Then again, my nickname at El Pollo Loco is "El Gringo".
My Spanish girlfriends call me "El Gordo"
The problem with "Yank" is that half of the Americans would be offended by that (Civil War history).
For me the point of the event is NOT to be called any of the above nicknames for an entire evening. We can also totally fail to fit any of the nasty stereotypes our Upquark named and no one there will be surprised.
I vote for Buena Vista because I'd like to go somewhere new, and it's closer to home for me.
roots
Aug 2 2005, 11:10 am
I suggested Buena Vista because we go to TB all the time anyway not because I had anything against TB. I am with majority and I am fine with either. But Buena Vista is really a nice place with decent food and nice music.
Darn, have to miss this one. Heading to 'Merica tomorrow, family reunion. Hope to be in town for the next one.

For the record, I was co-opting preexisting stereotypes to render them useless. By crafting a grossly exaggerated caricature of the distored view people have of Americans, we bring these prejudices to light at the same time that we poke fun at them (and ourselves). Besides, as anyone can tell you, only 75% of Americans own guns, attend fundamentalist churches and watch Home Improvement (or whatever crap show is on these days). Now, if you'll excuse me I have an abortion clinic to bomb.
Would love to be there on Thursday, but unfortunately I already have plans.

I thought Tim the Toolman Taylor was pretty funny. May be cuz I lived in Detroit for a while and felt the connection
Anybody else bringing their gun btw? I am

Ok, the big guy wants to know where we are going so that he could add us to the calender.
Is it TB or Buena Vista? Time 7:00 PM?
***POSTPONED***
We haven't heard enough from peeps who can actually come tonight, so we're postponing till next week and will schedule according to popular demand.

Hi there,
I'm a new comer~
Are there still any AiM nights?
Looks like this thread is dead for almost a year.
If there's still anyone up for a drink or something, please let me know!

I've not seen any advertised, since Mellilisa (I think?) had to give up organizing. The AiM mailing list is overwhelmed by spam last I checked, anyway. I'd still be on for an event, if there's interest.

I´m new to Toytown and, after 8 years of living in Germany, wouldn´t mind talking to people who have the same accent as I do. Haven´t celebrated the 4th of July here yet either. So any Amis out there...?

Mar 12 2007, 12:00 am
As far as I know, the two main people who ran the AIM group are no longer in Munich. I'm sure if somebody were to take the reigns and organize another event there'd be a healthy turnout.

I'm not sure how successful this will be. Americans tend to avoid each other abroad. Or perhaps they just integrate well.

I would be interested if it were at a biergarten or a venue where I could bring my kid (8 years old). I would love to meet some new people, but I can not afford 10 Euros an hour for a
