As far as switching the meeting back to Wednesdays. There was a point when it was on Wednesdays so that it wouldn't conflict with the TT Tuesday, but none of the TT people came to the AIM meeting on Wednesday, so it seemed pointless to switch for people who don't come. Also, TT Tuesday is every week and Americans in Munich is only once a month. So certainly if you really wanted to come, you could miss one TT Tuesday. Tuesdays work better for me, so that's why it's on Tuesdays again.
But I also want to suggest that if anyone wants to plan another meeting for Americans during the month on a Wednesday, go ahead! Meetings twice a month would be a good idea to try out. I just can't invest time to plan meetings twice a month myself.
Look forward to seeing everyone tonight!

I enjoyed it. I guess about 20 folks or so, more than last time. The fajitas I had were great; but only two tortillas. It's nice of animeli to mix up the venues.

Nice crowd...thanks Ami for organizing. IMHO atlas in general is a nice place only complaint is that its not very mingle friendly i guess ditto on CAST. I dislike those long bench tables that lock me in...Do hope to make it to the next one though

I'm glad everyone had such a good time last night.
I have to agree that it is difficult to find a place that is good to mingle but also has good food (non-bar food) and that is big enough to accomodate us. I'm always up for suggestions.
I'm thinking that the next meeting we'll have at Cafe Blue. I remember there being a corner with tables that are high that are better for mingling. I'll give you more details next week. But I expect that we will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 1st.

Leib and Seele in
Lehel
they have a lot of room, not too happening, but...
Lehel rocks! Nah its too out of the way for most peeps. Tattenbachs is cheap, has that private room and is right off the U stop which is nice. Or we could alll go check out that new rib house...

Hi Cosmic Shame
We spoke last night about places in Munich that served good steak. Well these two are my top picks;
Barysphär Foodclub Tumblingerstr. 36, Isarvorstadt
Totally hip. Reservations are essential and need to be made in advance if you want to go on the weekends. Speaking of the weekends - lots of eye-candy. Also serves other great meat dishes and American beer. There's also a cool bar downstairs for after dinner fun.
La Bouille Neureutherstr. 15,
Schwabing, Tel. 089 399936
French (i.e., expensive but well worth it). More formal setting but a sport coat and Euro jeans gets you anywhere in Munich. Totally picked up on the whole older women/younger guy thing, which makes for fun dinner conversation.
Of course, nothing compares to CA tri-tip. ; )
laters,
Michael
P.S. Thanks again to amimeli for organizing!

I actually moved into the old flat of the owner of Barysphär and might have some pull for a last minute reservation. He told me anytime I wanted to come by, give him a call on his handy.

Thanks jml and brokenm for your suggestions on places to meet! I just looked them both up online and they both look like Bavarian restauarants. I'm not so into the German/Bavarian food, but maybe we can meet at one of them next month. I'm eager to try out Cafe Blue to see if we can mingle better there.

The next Americans in Munich meeting is next Tuesday, Feb. 1st at Café Blue!
What: AIM meetup at Café Blue
Where: Café Blue, Implerstr. 2, Sendling
When: Tues, Feb. 1st, at 7 PM.
To get to Café Blue take U-3 or U-6 to Poccistr. Go under the railroad bridge and it will be straight ahead on the corner of Lindwurmstr. And Implerstr.
Ask the staff for where the Americans in Munich group is or listen for a group speaking English. I requested the corner with the raised tables on the left side when you enter. I think this area should be better for mingling.
As always, everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality! New people to Munich are especially welcome.
Hope to see lots of people there!

I'm new in town and would love to join you all for the next Stammtisch. Bummer I just missed this last one...
Does anyone get together during the interim?
I think the organizer, Amimelli, is off on a trip. If your up for meet tonight, check out the thread on the Superbowl party at
The Arc. Should be some combination of Americans and drinksies going on
That would've been fun...unfortunately I've been out of town for a couple of days...
Anything else happening?

The next meeting would normally be on Tues., March 1st, but I will be out of town at a conference. So the meeting will be postponed a week. It'll be on Tuesday, March 8th instead. I'll let you know later about where it will be.
Also, I'm planning on stepping down from being the organizer of the Americans in Munich group. After planning the meetings for the last year and a couple months (about 14 meetings total), I've decided that I need to pass on the torch to someone else. So at the next meeting hopefully someone will volunteer to start planning the meetings or maybe a couple of people could take turns. I'll give you tips on how to organize the meetings.

In case your ever looking for low key, I also second
Tattenbach in
Lehel. They take reservations online, they have a private room for bigger groups, good food and a really nice (bavarian) atmosphere. Its right off the U4 so you can easily pop off afters to a club or whatever suits your fancy.
