The Next Americans in Munich Stammtisch________________________________________
Hello all Americans on this list and others interested,
The next Americans in Munich Meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13th at Bondi Bar (yes, it's Australian, not American. But we all like Australians.

)
The Bondi Bar is at Sonnenstr. 8 at Karlsplatz/ Stacchus. Most people have come between 7pm and 8pm in the past.
Everyone is welcome to come. American, German or otherwise.
Just look for the table with people speaking English.
The Americans in Munich group only meets once a month. Normally on the first Tuesday of each month. But this month due to the winter holidays we have pushed the meeting back one week.
We have been meeting at the Bondi Bar for the last several months.
We look forward to new people coming to our meetings always! Our monthly meeting is smaller than the Toytown weekly meeting. So come and join the intimate atmosphere!
Looking forward to seeing you,
Melissa

Won't there be a lot of tables with people speaking English in an Australian bar?

So you could end up sitting at the wrong table for the whole evening and never know it. With the other people saying why's he sitting here ! These Americans are very odd you know !

Ami, ignore the abuse from these mean people. What you should have said is, look for the table with the people speaking proper english.
hehe, just kidding.

Hi Melissa,
I suppose you're aware that your meeting conflicts with the Toytown happy hour at Günthers? Would it be possible to pick a different night?
sparty
Jan 9 2004, 11:03 am
Happy hour at Murphy's is every day...but the Americans meeting would conflict with this:

will we get free beer at Bondi, cause that's my favorite part of the TT happy hour!!! I am one of the three original members of AIM (Amy just referred to me as Brenda in a post...shame on her!). I much prefer the TT meetings and only wish that more Ami's came and girls too. Too bad the AIM group didn't hook up with TT for this Stammtisch (they discussed it in December). But whaddya gonna do?
So much to drink, so little time...

Okay, bee sting. I'm choosing Murphy's over the AIM meeting this Tuesday. See you there.

Hi again everyone,
Wow! My post sparked a lot of comments!
As far as the table of speaking speaking English in an Australian bar. Well, good point. But actually so far most of the people I've heard speaking there while walking by were Germans. Maybe cause it's a Tuesday night. Don't know why though.
As far as the meeting conflicting with the Toytown meeting. Yes, I am aware of that. The Americans in Munich group may think about changing their meeting to a different night or having a joint meeting with Toytown in the future. This is the first time I've ever posted the meeting on the Toytown website, so I just kind of wanting to see what would happen. Since Toytown meets every Tuesday, there are 3 other Tuesdays of the month that don't overlap with the Americans in Munich meeting. So I think it is still fair to have our meeting on a Tuesday. The reason why we didn't try a joint meeting yet is because we thought we would have our group focus on Americans, not on the broader English speaking population in Munich. But that is just an idea, don't know if it will be the reality.
The last time we had a big group at Bondi's they gave us all free shots. But otherwise, we have no free drink deal worked out. That might be something we can work out in the future if we decide to keep going there and have enough people to make a deal like that.
So, I hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Hi all Americans and our friends,
The next Americans in Munich meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4 at Bondi Bar. This time I will bring a sign I think that says Americans in Munich so new people can spot me. I'll be starting at 7pm.
I thought I'd try planning a Wednesday night meeting instead of our usual Tuesday meeting this month so that it doesn't overlap with the Toytown meeting at Murphy's on Tuesdays. However, the overlap between the two groups doesn't seem to be large at the moment.
We will most likely be upstairs at Bondi Bar. I am planning on reserving a table upstairs for 30 people (we had 25 at our last meeting - majority being Americans with some Germans and one British girl - our honorary European member!).
Wednesdays downstairs there will be karaoke, so some of us might be interested in testing our our singing skills downstairs too!
Everyone is welcome to come! New people to Munich are especially welcome.
The Bondi Bar is located at Sonnenstr. 8 at the Karsplatz/Stacchus.
Also, if you are interested in chatting with Americans, check out our chat forum page at:
http://groups.msn.com/AmericansinMunich - although there are a lot fewer posts there than on Toytown.
Hope to see you there next week!

Just curious...from those 25 people, how many people were there who come to the Toytown Tuesdays as well?
amimeli
Jan 27 2004, 4:37 pm
@sparty
3 came to the Toytown meeting after coming to ours. And one came to our meeting after being at the Toytown one.
I have been one Toytown Tuesday so far, but didn't go on the same night as the AIM (Americans in Munich) meeting.

Hi all Americans and our friends,
The next Americans in Munich meeting will be on Tuesday, March 2nd at the
http://www.toytowngermany.com/munich/bondi...ralian_bar.html.
This past month's meeting was on a Wednesday as a trial so that it wouldn't overlap with the Toytown Tuesday night, but seeing as myself and 3 Lions were the only ones who also go to the Toytown Tuesdays that came, I don't see the meeting as being much of a conflict with the Toytown meetings. It was rather loud due to the karaoke on Wednesday night and since no one took advantage of the karaoke, I think Tuesday night is better.
As always, everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality! New people to Munich are especially welcome.
I'll reserve a place for UPSTAIRS again! So look for us there!

i'm torn as to where to go now...hmmmm :-( i can't decide!
Shouldn't we practice some OPSEC… We are Americans by the way!!!
"What the Heck is OPSEC?"
The OPSEC process is a formalized, tried and true, method for protecting your critical information.
I'll be there! I hope! For some reason I like the Irish better than the Aussie bars. :-)

Ingredients
1/2 shot Irish Whiskey
1/2 shot Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 pint Guinness Stout
Directions
Combine (proportions of 50/50) Bailey's Irish Cream and Irish Whiskey into one shot glass. Drop the shot into a mug of guinness and chugg until empty.

Fcuking sacrilege man!!!
That abhorent concoction is known as an Irish Car Bomb and any Irish pub that serves you one should have their license revoked. I tried one (for research purposes) in an alleged Irish bar in Zagreb a few years back. Apart from tasting revolting and looking like a glass of chilled vomit it is a sin to add anything at all to the pure pint. Even a drop of blackcurrent is an affront to a proper roaster.
Shame on anyone caught ordering this abomination!!!

Hi everyone,
I won't be able to come to the Americans in Munich meeting tonight, because I am too sick.
But everyone can still come (that is, those who haven't yet gotten sick!). There will be a big table downstairs at Bondi Bar. That is where everyone will meet.
Have a good time without me!

Update on yesterday's meeting...
The meeting last night had good turnout. According to my calculations 16 people came. 9 Americans, 4 Germans and 3 Englishmen (yes, really only males from England). Everyone seemed to have a nice time meeting each other. Exactly half of the people came for the first time.
At the moment, the next meeting is planned to be at the first Tues. of May at Bondi Bar again. Depending on the weather, we might change to a beer garden, but I am guessing that will have to wait until June.
I'll post again the update of the next meeting the last week in April.

Normally the meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month, but this month I've moved it to the second week. Hopefully we can pick up some new people who are interested in coming after going to the Cinco de Mayo party on May 9th!

Hi all Americans and our friends,
I just looked up the weather forecast for next week and it doesn’t look good. So instead of going to a beergarden and getting rained on, we’ll meet inside. If the weather is nice, then there is still an outside seating area at CAST as well.
The next Americans in Munich meeting will be on Wednesday, July 7th at CAST, an American restaurant and bar in
Schwabing on Leopoldstr. 28a See CAST’s website if you’d like:
http://www.c-a-s-t.de/We’ll meet at 7pm until 11pm or so.
In order to find us, I’ve decided to use a Schwimmnudel (Swim noodle) as a marker. It is a long skinny foam thing that kid’s use in the swimming pool to float on. I’ll prop it up like a flag pole so you can find us. See attached picture…
To get to CAST, take the U3/6 to Giselastrasse.
As always, everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality! New people to Munich are especially welcome.
Hope to see some new faces!
Melissa
PS- That's not me in the picture.

Hi there,
I wanted to make it tonight but ended up being just too tired to go out and be social.
Maybe I'll meet some fellow Americans there next month though...

Hi!
I am an American living in the Munich area and have been looking for a group such as this. Unfortunately I am new to this forum and wasn't able to make the Stammtisch on 2 August. When is the next one?

Hi chucktduck and welcome. It's usually around the beginning of the month on a tuesday or wednesday.
But I'd suggest just coming along to a
TT Tuesday event any week before then. The American Stammtisch is really the same thing but just another excuse to get together for a beer. Plus not have to decipher all those weird english/irish/aussie/belize accents

The next Americans in Munich meeting is next Wednesday, Sept. 8th at
Atlas Cafe!
What: AIM meetup at Atlas
Where:
Atlas Cafe, Innere Wiener Str. 2, Haidhausen
When: Wed, Aug 4, at 7 PM.
The Atlas is just around the corner from the Gasteig.
To get to Atlas, you have all sorts of options:
Take tram 18 to Am Gasteig, or U4/5 or Trams 15, 18, 19 or 25 to Max-Weber-Platz. Or you can go to Rosenheimer Platz and exit at the Gasteig exit. Atlas is on the corner of Kellerstr. and Preysingerstr.
Atlas Cafe has both in an indoor and outdoor seating area. If the weather is nice then we'll be outside. Look for the Schwimmnudel again to find us! Or ask the staff for where the Americans in Munich group is. I'm hoping that it will be quiet enough at first so that we can hear each other talk. But I've heard that it turns into quite a happening place later in the evening.
The food at Atlas Cafe is excellent. They have an international cuisine, so there should be something for everyone's taste.
On the agenda (as if we really have an agenda) are to discuss if we want to have a group of people meet to go to the
Oktoberfest together or if we want to plan a Halloween party! And if we want to meet twice a month instead of once a month.
As always, everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality! New people to Munich are especially welcome.
Hope to see lots of people there!
Melissa
