I just heard/seen on this[url="http://http://www.scotlandontv.tv/"],at the very end they think Sean Connery may consider playing Bonds dad in the next movie. Well he is old enough I should think. ( And once again I can´t get it right.)The link I mean.

I picked up the Casino Royale DVD at the Saturn on Kaufingerstrasse for €9,90 as recommended, and watched it last night. Somehow I think it loses some of its magic when viewed outside the cinema; or maybe it's because I watched it in German, but it's still a great flick.
My male German flatmate, who was watching it for the first time, complained that it was 'a James Bond movie for girls' and wanted to watch Terminator afterwards as a palate cleanser. I think he might have a point, though - I think it was actually more popular with women than with men, which I reckon is unusual for a Bond film.

Even though I did not like Craig as a choice for Bond, I watched C. Royal last week-end. He's not the typical Bond I've been used to seeing but I must say, the film was really great and much better than the last few before it.
While watching it I thought of it as a good action movie rather than a Bond movie though. I loved the scene when he goes from a passionate embrace with a woman to ordering caviar and champagne "for one" and then shoots off! Very untypical of Bond! Loved the script! Very witty. And great stunts!

I watched Casino Royale last night and was very impressed with it. The hackneyed dependence on fantastical gadgets and huge elaborate stunt sequences is, happily, absent from this one though the absence does not slow the pace of the action sequences one bit. I was particularly impressed by the way that the dialogue was used to deepen the Bond character and his relationship with M, if that is repeated in subsequent films then the Craig/Dench films may well become the high point of the Bond franchise.

It's a genuinely good film, I liked it. Now, in the Bahamas, what does he say to the guy whose car he parks in the hotel when he meets him again at the bar. Sounded like "Guten Abend" but I'm fecked if I could make out what he really says to them.

that's what makes me think that it's an average film. if it hadn't 'bond' in the title, not many people would have gone and seen it. there are better action movies out there. one of the reason why i thought it was crap is that there were so many unrealistic scenes and facts even for a character like bond ie when did bond turn into a computer wizard to be able to hack into mrs m computer, give me a break.

Have you ever seen another Bond film other than this one? If you trawl through the other 20 movies, you'll find that Bond has a knack for pretty much everything. Computer games, piloting a space shuttle, disarming nuclear weapons, horse racing, endangered aquatic species, scratch golfer, poker player, skiing and snowboarding, surfing etc* Now I'd say that getting someones password would be much easier than finding time to become expert at what I've just listed.
*Name the Bond films where these talents were used?

Perhaps Bond is a post pubescent Joe 90 and is still using that revolving cage (I think it was called BIGRAT) to download all his skills.

Planetmommi,
I thought this Bond was actually more realistic than the other ones in terms of what he gets away with. It would have been unrealistic if he had smelled the poison! I also was quite glad that the car chase scene was short. Those sorts of stunts are so old. On the other hand, Le Parkour chase scene was amazing! They actually used a real Parkour expert.
i think i was expecting too much. i was genuinely disappointed when i left the cinema.
the le parkour chase was really good and i liked it but for the rest... you know my opinion.

He does indeed say 'Guten Abend'. I have no idea why. Maybe to help disguise his identity since he'd just wrecked a car?

Planetmoni,
I know it was very difficult for me to get past Craig's look. For me he still doesn't fit into the smooth Bond image that we're used to. But he did make a really good secret agent, not very attractive but good. And apparently, in the first Bond novel, the character was supposed to be this tough agent with a rough-edge. So we have to blame the film makers for wrongly portraying the original character and deceiving us all these years!
To be honest, I never ever thought that I would enjoy the film because I was so against Craig playing the role. But he's brought something new and fresh to the role. It's nice to see that he doesn't have to shag every girl he comes across for a change!

i am not that fussed about craig and he is not the reason why i don't like the film. among others it's the story line, i hated the love story, i didn't believe it... it happens that you leave the cinema and while others are raving about the film, you just can't see it. i prefer the bourne stories to this new bond.

There's even a nod to this film, when yer man goes through the window over the door.
Isn't that David Belle the inventor of Le Parkour? The master of all masters? Really amazing stuff.

Aye that's the lad - great film that, nobrainer but as far as straight-out actioners go it's brilliant, up there with Crank for pure adrenaline.
@Georgiagirl - so I'm not going deafly doolally, he does say "Guten Abend"
