no, not really, not my type.
the movie is great in its little pieces but when the pieces are put together to make the film, i am dissappointed.

I saw it last week and LOVED IT! Daniel Craig was great as Bond and I liked how the viewer got a bit of insight into his relationship with M. Never read the books tho, so I'm not sure if I'm just reading way more into this film than necessary.
Great pic Moonboot. I loved that scene.

Editor Bob must have paid an arm and a leg for product placement in the movie. Did any of you spot the registration plate on the Bond Aston Martin...? It started with TT

I have yet to see the film but I did notice the registration in the Trivia link kindly provided by Keydeck:
QUOTE
The license plate number of James Bond's 2007 Aston Martin DBS is TT-378-20.
What I find strange is that (at least according to the link) those first three digits are also the number of his hotel room in Montenegro.

I heard it was superb - think I'll watch it when I go home at Christmas
Saw this last night, and I might have to watch it again because it might actually be the best Bond film I have ever seen. Why? Because, while it is still heavily Hollyweird, it is a lot less so that the previous. No Q, and no cutting through metal with red pointer lasers on watches... very good. They must have a reality advisor on the production team somewhere. It was the least Austin Powers Roger Moore Austin Powers (sorry, I can't remember the difference) of all the Bond films and it showed the character closer to what one would expect reality to be... the man is a thug. I thought the opening joke was sharp and witty, and the plot beautifully subtle. The baddies were a little more believeable, and that sultry bird on the horse on the beach, I should cocoa. The main criticism I have regards using the wrong lens to film Bond in swimming trunks coming out of the sea; they should have used a far longer focal length to lengthen the perspective and mask his head looking disproportionately tiny. The acting was very good, and the ending perfect and to the point (no swanning about in canoes shaggin' and ignoring SpookZentrum's attempts to distract). Loved the wreck of the AM. Bloody good stunt. Only think I've seen 2 better in reality at Silverstone.

I thought the opening chase scene was well over the top and noticeably computer aided. That immediately put me in this is a shit movie mode which the rest of the film could do nothing to pull me out of

Loved it - really good entertainment. Thought he held his own as Bond too.
Ah well, I thought it was good. Probably the most plausible Bond film to date (which ain't THAT plausible anyway). Can you really imagine Roger Moore standing in front of you and sayin', "My name is Bond, James Bond". Any Johnny Foreigner agent would piss themselves laughin' (after they'd shot him).
I've had a chance to think about the film a little more, and discussed with Mme Sin (expertess on all things Bond) and I am beginning to think that this really was the best Bond film so far. At the very least, the closest to Ian Fleming's real Bond. Closer even than Sean Connery's Bond. At least the camp bullshit has gone. The discussion has now already turned to the next film, which by rights should be Live and Let Die and deals with the events after Le Chiffre's death.
So for those who didn't like Casino Royale, I suggest you read the original 1953 book. If you want camp, go see Austin Powers.

Unless they were German or Bavarian. In which case they would respond, "My name is Hackl, Gschorg Hackl".

Seen the film. Brilliant fun and maybe a little more "serious" than previous Bonds. The film seemed a little more heavyweight than the ones made by Mr Brosnan. Personally, I liked Daniel Craig in it but then I liked Timothy Dalton too.
The added bonus was that when I drove my RRS out of the car-park next to the cinema, I could have made a lot of money for charging the on-lookers for pointing at it and saying "Look, that car was in the film" (yes I had my windown down and could hear). (Eat your heart out Timmeh

Great film and worth the trip into town to see it.

Daniel Craig 'world's sexiest man'QUOTE
The British actor topped the poll, conducted by condom maker Durex, after showing off his toned muscles in his first outing as James Bond in hit 007 adventure Casino Royale.
Seriously, he’s what Sexiness Experts like myself would refer to as ‘brain-damagingly hot’. I think I lost three IQ points just looking at this picture.

so 1953 was all mobile phone, satellite links and sony laptops?
the more i think about the movie, the less i like it. it is still not realistic, bond is: an expert hacker, an expert in parcour, can inbetween million dollar poker games fight and nearly die and still act like he is doing this everyday. i could go on and on.
and i prefer johnny depp over craig anytime

I wish but if you have a search on another thread (about cars, suprisingly) you will see my RRS. I received my phone for free from O2 (due to their rather conflicting information on its availability).
Strange you mention a lady called "Eva" because we took our neighbours very "Hubsch" daughter to see the film and she is named Eva too. (That last bit is yet another VERY tenuous link between Mr Bond and myself

Just got back from seeing this and i have to say it's probably the best Bond film i have ever seen. He is much more human and raw and a whole sight more believable as an arrogant but vulnerable character.
Dame Judy Dench also played a damn good part imho.

Saw the movie about ten days ago. And despite my prejudiced reservations about it all I really enjoyed it. There were times when my attention wandered and I started reading the subtitles, but it never got too cerebral as the pre-hype led me to believe and neither did it become unnecessarily gadgety like the Brosnan episodes.
No plot? What plot do you expect from a Bond story? Besides, the main thread is depicting the start of his 00 career.
There were little details that bugged me - I found the initial chase scene slightly ridiculous and the fact that they played Texas hold 'em irritated me too - but it's a damned good Bond film and gets huit points from the Jeevsian jury.

So I like Daniel Craig even more now. He's taller than I thought he was. I'm watching the Oscars (rerun) and he's standing next to Nicold Kidman (5'10"ish) and who has to be wearing heels and he's the same height as her. That makes him, what, 6'1" ish. Yum.
