This Saturday (6 May), The finest staff and drinkers
The Arc can muster will be playing cricket against the Munich Cricket Club. It will be a 30 over a side affair commencing at 12:30pm sharp.
The weather is supposed to be very good on Saturday, and it would be great to see a few people come down for what should be a fun day.
For those who don't know where we're playing - it'll be at the Hirschanger. It's here:

Tram 17 stop Paradiesstrasse, or slightly further walk from
U-Bahn stop
Lehel (U4/U5).
See you there!!!

QUOTE (Showem @ May 4 2006, 10:55 am)

I went along last year in the rain, I'll come again this year in the sun.
Me too, and me too (possibly/probably, depending on work).
Haven't decided who to cheer for yet, but am open to bribery in the form of Weissbier

Somehow I have managed to get myself picked for the Arc's team, and this despite not having played cricket since school.

Great weather for this. We should be there in an hour or so.

Anyone able to give me a clue as to how long this match could last? 60 overs - 300 balls??? Have I got that right?? 3 minutes a ball means 900 minutes which is 15 hours - that can't be right...

No it can't be right. 3 minutes a ball???
Anyhow:
MCC 211/3
Arc 74 all out
MCC wins by 137 runs

But at least
The Arc lost in style, which at the end of the day is the most important thing, right? Not a bad effort for a bunch of people signed up when they were drunk.
I think it took half an hour for a few of them to register why they weren't still in bed so early in the afternoon on a Saturday.
Good to see some of the fielders out there cradling beers too. Pure class.

Yes, well played indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed the second innings, even if I did stumble across it by accident. (I heard the call of 'over' whilst wandering through the gardens and went to investigate). I'm new to Munich and hope to catch some more matches soon...

Hey, anybody manage to catch a photographic record of my unique running style? I hope so. In an afternoon replete with high comedy, I think I may have just taken the cake.

Anyway, if you got it then post it!

Sorry Kaiserf, I was so enjoying the show too much to actually think to take pictures of it.

None of your running style sorry Kaiserf, but I do have one of you playing with your box.

@Showem
Well, its unfortunate that Marshbot's picture was the only box related humor that made it into this thread, but if you've got anymore please post them to the thread or the gallery. I think that
The Arc team at least would find them highly amusing and memorable.

The Arc did indeed lose in style and went down fighting to the last. When the number 10 second top scores and the number 11 hangs around for ages despite never having played before and having to hang onto his box all the time, that is style.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thanks for the entertainment guys. My post with the score was just a bit high on digits and low on prose because I had to turn around quick and get back out to the beer garden
