whats up people?
Melb is great and the shoppin so incredibly cheap as compared to Munich ofcourse although got to complain the surburbs are horribly slow..thats where i currently live.
But u fucking Aussies have to put a BLOODY slang word to everything. While driving around the other day and someone yells "take a Uie here" I didnt know what a U turn was in the 1st place and then you guys turn it to a "Uie"... and not forgeting the Melbourne Cricket Grounds, which is further shortened to MCG which is further slanged into a "Gie" ...Man u bloody people..Hazza, andrew, nixe, greg and andrea(well u too!), cant remember who else,..Help me get used to the very scary "bloody" thrown into every sentence and which team to cheer at a bar when everyone is watchin footie...no clue how that works.
anyway the point of this thread was just a short note to check out if any TT mates in and around Melb? I'd love to catch up on my Deutsch or just speak about Munich in general as my friends are fed up of hearing me yell when i just see the Allianzarena or even the German news on "Tele" . Please send me a PM and we can catch up. We can figure out what mischeif we can be up to here and send a pic to all our TT mates who are freezin in Munich..while making Editor bob proud.
com on u guys! Where the bloody hell are ya? Send me a PM.
I miss u guys
bonydebbie
PS- I Love the comedy festival though..Atleast one thing im sure u guys are missing out on after suffering with German humour for 4 years.

LOL - love the Strine...actually its "chuck a Uie", but I'm sure you will hear that too in time. Sounds like you must be living near Moonee Ponds...where all top people come from.
----and do you realise what you do to us ex-Melbourners when you keep mentioning the comedy festival. Bloody hell...

Which particular bloody slow suburb are you in, Deb?
As for "uie", it's perfect Strine but it's used in the UK too (although Mrs Thatcher didn't want to understand it)

We use the term "uie" or "pull a uie" as well, seems pretty common amoung English speakers

opps made a mistake with that..i meant a hook turn not a U turn..isnt that a Uie?
@Jeeves
Im in Preston, North Melbourne. Its rather quite as compared to the city. this is the first time I have ever lived outside of the city so its taking time to get used.

Try living on the south side of Melbourne - its more fun - as to the hook turns - just don't argue with trams or chuck a Uie in their path and you should be fine. Love to hear that you find it cheaper there - I find it much cheaper here in Munich and I've only been here 6 weeks... transport, food etc is much more expensive in Melbourne than here - but your rent should be lower if you are living on the north side. Don't envy you the Mellie winter coming in now - we are basking in 24 degrees here - its bliss...
Next time you're in Port Melbourne - go visit those great pubs for me... and slurp a glass or two of some of those good Mornington Peninsula wines... don't get me started... hic.

How can you be in Preston and North melbourne at the same time.. they are two completely different suburbs, itt would take in good traffic at least 30 mins to get to one from another... so whiere are you living and where are you working?
and a hook turn is not a Uie as you all seem to call it.. they are 2 completely different things, basically one is legal and one is illegal..
However Melbourne is great.. its definately not Munich, I loved munich, but I love Melbourne more.. maybe I am bias, but people smile more here.. thought the public transport is crap..

Sorry.. misunderstood you mail.. your in Preston North of the city... now i get.. why are you preston?? i understand your pain.. I couldn't live there either.. though not that i 'm any better, I'm living in Essendon.. But everybody lives in the burbs so to speak.. you need to get into Collingwood, Fitzroy, Ascot vale, moonee ponds, richmond, South melbourne, windsor, St Kilda east, there the best suburbs to rent...
South melbourne, Middle park, albert park, port mebourne are all too expensive and the places are crap for what you pay??
So your not from Melbourne then..
