guys, need some help on a cheap and i mean CHEAP plane ticket to edinburg for the weekend. i found one for $206 this morning but got lazy and checked just now and the same ticket was $272 ...any suggestions please where i can find cheap flights? i have scoured the entire web for cheap tickets but still no luck. HELP!

Unfortunately there aren't really any cheap flights from Munich to Scotland. Try the Lufthansa and BA websites, and also check out whichbudget. You'll have to be creative, e.g. fly to Newcastle and book a train (in advance!) from there.

Edit: You mean this month?? At a weekend?? And you want CHEAP?? Good luck! Suggest you try Thursday to Monday. Fri-Sun will cost a fortune.

$270 is a pretty good price to be honest. I don't think you'll find it cheaper.

Generally, the cheapest routing is with easyjet via Stansted, but you're looking at 4 hours minimum in transit at Stansted.

Alternatively, I once flew for $198 with expedia.com (not .de or .co.uk) booking the day before I flew with KLM.

You can use this number for flights out of Germany but only valid if flying within 3 days and gets you the best prices on offer, 0180 5212121.

It's actually LTUR but don't expect to go on their site and get the same prices, telephone bookings only.

I've travelled between Munich and Scotland a fair bit.
I think your main options are:
BA
BMI/Luftansa
KLM
Luftansa (Frankfurt to Edinburgh)
Air Berlin (Nuremburg to Glasgow)
Ryanair (Franfurt Hahn to Glasgow Prestwick)
Or get to London and catch a train.

how long would a train ride take and how much would it cost approximately?

Airlines square up in fight for Munich flights to Edinburgh

The Scotsman, 14.11.2006

QUOTE (The Scotsman)
Three airlines are believed to be battling it out to provide direct flights from Edinburgh to Munich next summer.

According to air industry sources, British Midland, easyJet and Adria Airways have all requested departure slots for the new route. Flights to Munich are a top priority for Edinburgh Airport operator BAA.

A BMI service was scheduled for take-off last spring, but was axed at the last minute.

Can anybody help me? I want to fly to Edinburgh from Munich during the Easter holidays. The return flights I found cost 500 € which is way too much.
Does anybody know of an airline that flies that route and is cheaper? I'd be really grateful for any advice or info! Thanks. smile.gif

Easy jet, 250€ return for easter!
belgianpraline
thanks. I just found that offer too. So is that the cheapest going? I was expecting something more along the lines of Ryan Air prices, but maybe flights to EDI are always that expensive?
Small Town Boy
You expect to fly for ten cents over Easter?

You've seen her views on NATO and world order, right?
So maybe booking within a month of travel at a peak period for two buttons and some pocket fluff on a route with no competitors is also feasible for her.
Anyway, only easyjet flies direct from Munich to Edinburgh and for the time of booking (late) and time of travel (peak), it's a good deal.
But this is from a ruling class perspective, obviously.

I fly to Dublin or Shannon quite regularly for about 50 € return and I just asked whether anything similar goes for flights to Scotland, nothing more than a question. smile.gif

Anyway, I have what I need now and will get my rich uncle to pay. wink.gif

Interesting. Below is a graph of the single, outward cost in Euros, including taxes, of direct flights to Dublin from Munich during the entire month of March, were you to reserve today.

Nothing less than €64 and as you see the last two (Easter) weekends rise to almost €200. The return flight costs are similar, so the round trip varies between around €130 and €400 depending on your choice of days.

Now compare that with the same graph for direct flights from Munich to Edinburgh:

As you'll see, on average, the prices are cheaper to Scotland, especially for the Easter weekend period
