I'm usually not organised enough to plan ahead for these public holidays. Is anyone interested in going to a bar or restaurant? Maybe Greek? There's said to be a good Greek place in the
Leopoldstr. but I'd need some help there, as I don't know the name.
Sorry, Ed Bob, that should be 'anyone'.

Good idea, again, Nicky.
Yes I'd be interested and Greek would make a nice change.
Unfortunately the only Greek restaurant I know of is in
Unterschleissheim, wasn't fantastic and ... I don't want to talk about it

http://www.munichx.de/essen/gastro_suche.p...eche=GriechischHow about between 7 - 8 pm? Take your choice from the above. I can recommend Paros. Melina was ok too. Sorry, can't locate anything in the
Leopoldstr.

i come

BTW: I have tried a greek-italian restaurant with good prices and good food quality in barlachstr. 80804,
Schwabing west. Cozy, quiet atmosphere there.

There's a greek place on
Leopoldstr. next to McDs on the corner of Franz-Joseph- Str. Called Adria I think. Looks rubbish.
ALso a place on Kaiserstr, pretty much opposite Noor Jahan the Currygarten place.
Enjoy.

So I'm flying back to the U.S.A. on Sunday for work. Kept asking everyone; "Isn't Monday a holiday?". They all kept laughing; "We ain't no commies".
I've been here too long...

Enjoy your day off...commies!

Some more accurate searching produced this:
http://cities.eurip.com/stadt/m%FCnchen/au...atsa_13010.htmlPiatsa
(Griechisches Restaurant)
Leopoldstrasse 33
80802 München
Telefon: 089 348000
So to make it easy, I suggest meeting there at 7.30. If we don't like it for some reason, we have the entire
Leopoldstrasse to choose from. We're only a small group so far: Koorosh, TPWNN, me and mere. I'll wait for a bit more reaction, and then book a table tomorrow.
@koorosh - your place sounds nice, but looks to be a bit more difficult to get to.

some of us are planning happy hour sunday night, as we don't have to get up early on monday!
Nicky
Apr 30 2006, 12:41 am
7.30 pm, of course! Very funny, Carm! I'm sure you'll have recovered from your Sunday happy hour by then and can come and join us. Or you could simply keep going - 24 happy hours. Who needs sleep?

I'd like to go Greek! ...but this is Monday evening we're talking about here, isn't it?

Apr 30 2006, 8:40 am
Logically it should be tonight so that any excess ouzo can be slept off Monday morning, but it's not clear either from the title or from earlier posts.

Hello,
I just moved to Munich about 2 weeks ago, I have no plans Monday night so if this is open to everyone I will try to join you guys. Looks like a great way to get to know (English- speaking) people in Munich. Unfortunately, my German is not comprehensible yet !

Great, great, great! I'll count numbers this afternoon and reserve a table at the Piatsa (I'll check the name, maybe it has become Papadakis???, TexasTornado) and post exact location and directions for everyone later today, after I've spoken to the restaurant. So please, everyone, check the thread again.
See you all TOMORROW. (Sorry, for those who wanted Sunday - but you can always join Stitch 'n Bitch

.

OK - so now I've done my homework! I went to Restaurant Piatsa and reserved a table for eight:
TPWNN, mere, me, koorosh, TexasTornado, languagecom, Streeme and smartini for
7.30 pm.

Leopoldstrasse 33
It is easy to find. Coming from
Münchner Freiheit it is on the right just after the Hohenzollernstrasse and next to the cinema. Doesn't look much from the street, but you go down into a large 'cellar'. It's quite airy with a large circular bar. The guy was very friendly.
See you all there! If anyone else wants to join us, I'll call again tomorrow and increase the reservation.

Ok, everyone. I've confirmed our reservation for 15 people under the name 'Toytown'.
TPWNN, mere, me, koorosh, TexasTornado plus guest, languagecom,Streeme plus guest, smartini, maggie, helena, and a possible coolerking.
That makes thirteen, but there are also a couple more maybe's I've spoken to who haven't signed on.
See you all later. If anyone else is interested, they're of course welcome to join, but I'd strongly recommend calling the restaurant and reserving their own places, as I have to go out now. Telephone no. is 34 80 00. Thanks. Nicky.

Thanks everyone for coming. Mixed opinions on the food. Some thought it was good, others not and mine was average. But company was good, and that's the main thing.
