Hi there TT, I must travel to Frankfurt for a couple of days (Sat - Tue) to go to the American Embassy and I would like to get some recommendations on hotels close to the US Embassy which are not too expensive.
Thank you all for your helpful hints.

You can have look in the Hotel-Reservation-Service (www.hrs.de).
They have a wide range of hotels in Frankfurt.

I have always stayed at the http://www.palmenhof.com/ because it was cheap, but it doesn't have wireless access. I think the next time, I will try out something a little more expensive.

I'm looking at hotels in May and have noticed that prices skyrocket for 17th - 19th May. What's going on on these dates???!

it will be a messe (trade fair) Frankfurt is terrible for massive price hikes when these are on.

I would suggest this holiday inn, not sure what the prices will be like, but I have booked a week before and got rooms for €30 per night!

It could be a Messe, i.e. trade fair.

Hmm, very weird. I looked into this thread a couple of times after I posted the question and there was nothing. I already went there and stayed at Comfort Hotel. One of those 3 star hotel close to the central station. It was the only thing I could find at 10:30 in the evening without wandering too much around. 50 euros per night.
Thanks for the recommendations anyway.

I am trying to find just a simple, non trashy hotel to spend the night in in FRankfurt near the airport. I will only be there 10 pm to 5 am. I don't need anything flashy. Just a private room with a bathroom, and preferably no crackheads in the surrounding area. Do you have any suggestions?

For a listing of available rooms near the airport, you could try the HRS website. Enter Frankfurt airport as your destination, the night you'll be staying and your maximum budget limit. The site includes ratings and reviews, and, you can cross-check the reviews with your favourite review site (e.g. trip advisor).

HTH. Just my 2d.

i'm planning a bachelorette get-away in frankfurt and we were looking ideas, especially decent, not too cheap hotels where we could lay our heads after a full eve of partying. any suggestions from y'alls side. based on a recommendation from billy, I once stayed at the Savoy, but prices went up.

The Radisson is ok, quite comfortable and central. Has a nice pool and a fitness center in case you want to workout a bit before or after all the fun.

There's a sizeable chunk of Frankfurt's hotel capacity given over to the corporate and conference market. Avoid one of the rare weekends when there's a big fair (motor, book, home decoration), and you can get some incredible weekend deals even at some of the more upmarket hotels.

And I was also going to comment on the bits about dinner and a club, but they seem to have been edited away...

I've only stayed in three hotels in Frankfurt:

Alexander am Zoo: Pretty dull, but clean, reasonably comfortable and quiet. It's a standard business box: you get a room with a bed, a wardrobe and a bathroom. It's within staggering distance of the Merianplatz end of the Bergerstr, so it's convenient if you're going to be partying up that way.

NH Frankfurt City: To be honest, I remember nothing about my room. There can't have been anything wrong with it, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. I do remember sharing the breakfast buffet with two (small) coach-loads of tourists: one Spanish and one Japanese. Centrally located.

Steigenberger Metropolitan: The Frankfurter Hof is the Steingenberger Group's flagship hotel in Ffm. In comparison, the Metropolitan gets practically no attention, maybe because it's a harder sell when you have junkies shooting up two doors down from it, but once inside, it's very comfortable: good-sized rooms, lots of little extras, receptionists that actually smile at you. They even stock Henriot champagne (a personal favourite). A mere stone's throw from Hbf, the red-light district, and the junkies.

I couldn't recommend The Pure: a colleague stayed there and complained of snow-blindness. It's a little white apparently. Everywhere.
