OK, so maybe I don't mean an assault course per-se, but in other countries (well, the UK and Canada) I often see areas set up in parks for people to train on. Maybe some beams, some steps, some monkey bars, pull up bars and ropes etc.

I have been looking for somewhere en-route to work but have in fact not found them anywhere. Are the germans against this thing or something? So far I have failed finding them in Olympiapark, Petuelpark, Leotpold Park, Westpark and the Englischer Garten. I have heard that there may be one in the Englischer Garten but have not found it yet.

All I want is to find somewhere that I can practice pullups/chinups (no my doorframes are not suitable). Any ideas?

it's called "par course" there's one in Grunwald in the woods. i play on it when i get bored of wandering around.

Now I know what its called (thanks!) I just need to find one *in* Munich smile.gif

Wonder if that name has anything to do with Parkour...

Ta!

There is one on the Isarinsel between the English Gardens and St. Emmeramm/Herzogenpark, just north of the Staudamm.
Gen
In the Perlacher Forst there's one. Probably what mere means.

cool site about it with GPS info
Carm
There is one by Candidpl along the Isar- got lots of stuff to do there.

Also is one in Ismaning, by the Cemetary.

That is it! We use it about once a year on a Hash trail... lots of fun stuff to do there! rolleyes.gif
mere
nope i mean in the Gruenwalder forest- a few blocks from my house.
if anyone is ever doing it let me know!
Gen
so mere you're talking about something that starts near the Geiselgasteig? I'm talking about one that starts at Säbenerplatz. As the Grünwalder Forst connects to the Perlacher Forst, maybe the parcourses connect?
mere
umm.. .the one i'm talking about is south of Gw along the bit of the forest near the Isar (but the course doesn't go along the Isar). there's a parking are kind of near it right off of Tolzer Str.
the closest thing to the one i'm thinking is the Gw Police station, cemetary (and my house! well there are houses closer).
Gen
well yes mere but we don't know where your house is, so it's not the best orientation point. Nor do we know which cemetery, or which GW police station -- is there only one? Looking for Tölzerstr. now. Aaaand Tölzerstr. is on the west side of the river. Any more landmarks?
mere
only one cemetery and one police station.

umm see Wendelstein str?
it'd be on Tolzerstr b/t the street and river (closer to street) and a bit south of Wendlsteinstr
Gen
finally here it is. Turns out Grünwald has its own Tölzer Str.

This sounds like the one for me.

But what is the Staudamm? You are the only one on TT who has mentioned it...

At least in the process of searching TT for it I found Forest Fitness Trails around Munich thread which would have answered my original question smile.gif
mere
good job Gen! sorry i wasn't helpful!
so on your map it's b/t where the "T" for Tolzer Str. is and the white line a bit south of the T that justs out to the left (i'm thinking that's the service road that leads to a parking area near the start of the course).
canuck
I'm not sure if everybody can access this, but the track in Perlacher forest can be found here. It might loop around more, but the main track is highlighted. Station 8 has the pullup bars for Tom17.

Gen
canuck, that's fabulous! But the Perlacher Forst one does go off to the right a bit too I think. I thought it was an oval actually. Did you put in those pedometer measurements?

Hi, guys!

Could you tell me where can I find open air sports ground with horizontal bar and the best with
parallel bars also.
I was bicycling for it in Olympia Park and surroundings but I found nothing.
I know that there is sport section at ZHS but it's too difficult to get there, and it's not an open air.

Thanks for your help!
Magellan Cloud.
