Bergwolf - a cafe bar in the Glockenbachviertel

And they do vinegar on chips, yay!

After a wee bit of liquid refreshment last night me and a mate decided on food.

He wanted a sausage, I wanted chips. I jokingly asked for vinegar for my chips as last time I was there they didn't have any and looked at me weird. BUT NOW THEY DO! biggrin.gif No weird looks, no sarky comments, just lush cheap vinegar (NOT balsamico) on yer chips! cool.gif

It's on the corner of Klenzestrasse and Fraunhoferstrasse. right in the U-Bahn station.
Chips AND drinkies till late!
Topsy
you can get malt vinegar in the Arc to sprinkle on your chips, as well
fab, it is smile.gif
MonksTown
Aye but the Arcs full of "Ausländners" anyway wink.gif
It's a first for a "Leitkultur" takeaway innit.
You wouldn't believe how I had to bitch in my old work canteen to get vinegar for my chips!
Pirulero
Bergwolf is great pricey though...i experienced my first Currywürst there!

MT, isn't Bergwolf full of Ausländers as well? I mean, all the Saupreis go there don't they?
MonksTown
€1,90 for chips, don't see em much cheaper tbh and with Munich's SCANDALOUS kebab prices and lack of late night eateries in GBV I <heart> Bergwolf
Yeti
Vinegar is all well and good but if those were "frozen before the dawn of time" pommes you might as well have been pouring diesel on them.

So MT, real chips or the local yokes ?
Pirulero
well, was first late takeaway as well, suppose i should get used to 4.5€ for chips and a chopped up spicy tomato sauce sausage ...with "ahem" 'rosy white'...

(WAS good though! and atmos cool as well!)
MonksTown
Least worse of the local yokes Yeti. But when you've had a few, plus ouzo and there's a cute bloke with you who wants something inside him, what's a guy to do?

Real chips you only get at my mum's house. End of. biggrin.gif
Yeti
Get the picture MT, the fast was more important than the food part.
Katrina
Well I love Bergwolf, best curry ketchup in Munich by miles.

Do I need to draw you a diagram?
I dunno, men these days.
No idea.
*tsk*
MonksTown
Avoids comments about "vinegar strokes" and the like.

Anyway, we should maybe do a stop at Bergwolf on a GBV night out. cool.gif

What kind of vinegar though? Malt? The Currywusrt is quite good (no comparison to an original one from Berlin of course, but closest you can get down here), had the experience the quality differs from time to time a bit (maybe due to the staff?)... still go there all the time when my midnight currywurst craving sets in... if only they'ld serve decent beer there!

Btw: Kebab situation in Munich really is dramatic (too small, too pricey, too bland)! Living here for 12 years but can't find a decent one... any recommendations anyone?
Pirulero
yeah, go to Austria...Hallein, if ur a real kebab nutter and want to go to that much trouble...
MonksTown
Kebeb = Verdi on thingybob street, Landwehr?
Katrina
And they're opening a new branch at Münchner Freiheit (Occamstr.) apparently.
ThePigsInBlankets
Did it open this weekend? I walked past there on Saturday night and there was a big (and apparently private) party going on inside.
Malcolm Spudbury
It's been there for weeks. It's where the "Hard Days Night" English pub used to be.

I must be losing my touch, what and when was that?
Malcolm Spudbury
It was a Beatles theme pub. Not sure when it opened but it closed sometime in 2003 and was replaced by the Himalaya Indian restaurant.
MonksTown
Cheers, the last time I went out in that area we were still paying in DM! laugh.gif
