I have a Sky box and a DVD recorder. I am trying to connect the DVD recorder to the TV via the Sky box so I can record stuff off Sky but it doesn't work! I hook the DVD recorder to the Sky box and the TV via scart cables and the DVD recorder doesn't recognise the TV connection, it asks 'Is the TV on?'. Any clues? wacko.gif

I haven't heard a lot of postive reviews on DVD recorders, I had debated getting one myself, but settled for Sky plus. Way better.

Your DVD Recorder won't recognise the TV, as you are using SCART.

Connect your DVD Recorder to the SKY BOX via SCART and then connect your SKY Box to the TV Via SCART.
Dont connect your DVD recorder directly to the TV aswell, as your TV wont always be able to cope. You could connect the DVD Recorder directly to the TV with an ariel cable, then you would have to preset your TV to a cirtain channel to watch a dvd. ( if not connected vis SCART )

I have a SONY 750 Dodgybox and a Panasonic DVD Recorder. When I want to record SKY, then I have to make sure the Channel is set to to AV1.

Works fine for me !!

But, ALWAYS RTFM !!!

I have 2 DVD Recorders and I think they are brill... Have you checked that the scart lead is the right one i.e output scart, some leads are in only, some are output only, and others are in/out and switchable in/out.

In out, in out,
You shake it all about
You do the Okey-Cokey
And you turn around
That's what it's all about... cool.gif

I have a Humax set-top box (for BBC Prime) and Sony HDD/DVD Recorder and it works fine.

I have 2 SCARTS on the Humax Box - one marked for TV and one for VCR.
And 2 SCARTS on the DVD Recorder one marked Line 1 and the other Line 3/Decoder.

Under instructions from my DVD Recorder Manual:
Connect 'TV Scart' (Humax) with 'Line3' (DVD Recorder)
Connect 'Line1' (DVD Recorder) with one of the Scarts on my Samsung TV.

Hope that helps.

Just bought the DVD Recorder last week and must say it's great - no more need for VHS tapes ever again.
And more than enough space with 250GB to play with. smile.gif
