WannabeGolfer
I am a beginner at golf and am looking for someone to practice with. Let me know if you are interested or if you know of a site where I could get in contact with other golfers.

Thanks,
Huggy Bear
Probably a hiding to nothing but are there any people out there who play (interested in playing) golf? Bank holiday this weekend and it's time to dust off the irons and lose a few balls/kill a few squirrals.

You guys and gals up for setting up some fourballs!

Played years ago and would love to find out if I'm just as bad as i was before...

Also is it the same out here as back home...have we got to be members or can we pay and play!?
newfoundlander
I'm up for it. I don't have a "golf license" yet but I'm hoping to be able to talk my way around it if possible. Some people have told me if the pro is in a good mood he'll watch you hit a few on the range and let you go out. (anyone know if that's true?)

PM me if there's any progress on this.

Anyone else interested?

Newfound...I ain't got a handicap either, its been years, since I played and my nickname was worm killer then!!:)

So imagine now...but it will be a laugh.

Hey Purple Muffin

I was wondering where you did your golf course!?

Also was it any good? I would love to dust of the old sticks...but I know it can be a bit pricey!?

Any info you got would help

I've knocked a few balls at the driving range at this place which is near Bonames. Need a car to get there http://www.golfrange-ffm.de/leistungen/leistungen.htm Just need to buy a card with a 15 euro deposit on it then you can hit away until your heart is content / hands are bleeding

They also have a 9 hole par 3 course that you can go round. I doubt if its particularly tough or long, but possibly a good easy place to turn up and play to get back into the swing of things...
newfoundlander
I'd imagine a par 3 wouldn't be such a bad idea to get back into it.

Just called though, and you need a Platzreifen and a membership in a golf club.

Is this really serious, or can you talk your way around it when you get there?

Is there anyway to play golf in Germany without shelling out this 200€ for some pro to say, "Oh, you do know how to play. Run along then."?! Or are there any suggestions how to get this done cheap and quick and easy. I reckon I don't need lessons, so just the part where I prove I can play and prove I know the rules.

It was at the golf course in Bad Homburg. I didn't go in the end I cannot remember why though might have just been too busy!

I went thru the practical and written exams, trainers cost around 30€/30 minutes, 50€/hr. Do a couple of leassons to prove you're not a putz.

A friend of mine from the states was with me at the driving range, and he was given the platzreife on the spot, but because his drives were long, straight and consistent, it was obvious he had been playing for many years. So here is the thing, if you are really good, you should be able to get the platzreife in short order. If you are a beginner, then you have to prove yourself committed to the rules and have at least the minimum level of skill not to waste 30 minutes on the putting green. germany has a lot of beginers, so it is reasonable to raise the bar.
If you pay for a Golfclub membership, then I am sure that your platzreife will be granted quite quickly

I am thinking of taking a few golf lessons. Haven't ever played it. I wonder if anyone can share any experience of taking golf lessons in the Frankfurt area. Or perhaps someone will want to join me? Please let me know. smile.gif

Was planning on doing this at the weekends, when the weather gets better. smile.gif

I can help you out with this smile.gif I have taken over the running of the Frankfurt Ex-Pats Golf Society so we will be organising regular meetups and rounds of gold for all abilities starting from May onwards. We are currently developing our relationships with a number of locally based courses in Rhein-Main but we will be based from the Paragon Golf Akademie at the Rennbahn here in Frankfurt-Niederrad. Website is also in development.

Let me know when this society starts up - would definitely be up for a few rounds.
alimac_99
Tell me when and where. I will show up. Need to dust off the clubs and get back on the course
Twitch_de
I'd be interested in playing a couple of rounds. I played twice a week back in California and held a mid 20's handicap.
