Is there anyway to play golf in Germany without shelling out this 200€ for some pro to say, "Oh, you do know how to play. Run along then."?! Or are there any suggestions how to get this done cheap and quick and easy. I reckon I don't need lessons, so just the part where I prove I can play and prove I know the rules.
I went thru the practical and written exams, trainers cost around 30€/30 minutes, 50€/hr. Do a couple of leassons to prove you're not a putz.
A friend of mine from the states was with me at the driving range, and he was given the platzreife on the spot, but because his drives were long, straight and consistent, it was obvious he had been playing for many years. So here is the thing, if you are really good, you should be able to get the platzreife in short order. If you are a beginner, then you have to prove yourself committed to the rules and have at least the minimum level of skill not to waste 30 minutes on the putting green. germany has a lot of beginers, so it is reasonable to raise the bar.
If you pay for a Golfclub membership, then I am sure that your platzreife will be granted quite quickly
