Hi there,

I've been living in the 'Dorf for about 9 months, and as the summer is (hopefully) on the way, I'd like to get some biking done. However so far it seems to be pretty flat and dull round here!

Does anyone know of some good off-road places to go biking, within say 30 mins drive of Duss?

Cheers,

Matt

'don't know how serious you are about MTB'ing but here in Wetter (about an hour from Düsseldorf) we've got plenty of hills and we have part of the nation championships (Ruhr bike festival) here once a year, don't know if your German is up to speed check this Site out for details !

If you head east out of the city towards Graffenberger Wald and and Erkrath, it's not so bad. A bit hilly and off road. Not ideal, but better than biking along the Rhine!

The Eifel region is good for it if you can be bothered to get there. May take an hour or two depending where you go. Got a car?

darwin, actually the biking here is pretty good. You are never to far from civilisation and the trails are great. we go mountain biking every tuesday evening from work. We cover about 36K. You can come too if you like. firstly though I can show you the Graferberg wood, which is great for a quick ride. There are some great downhills and uphills and you feel like you could be anywhere. If you drop me a personal message I can discuss it in more detail with you.

Hi Guys, I'm 6 weeks or so new to the area and am a keen biker looking for new trails.

Is there any sort of organised ride groups in the area or such like?
If not anyone fancy starting one ohmy.gif

I'm mad keen for that idea !

Who's up for it?
Organised ride at the weekend, planned route, planned start time, etc etc.

I used to be part of one in Australia, was a great idea, we could maybe use some of the concept ideas and depending upon numbers adapt them here?

cheers,

Great! Let's start one.

Though this weekend and next weekend, I have something to do already, we can start on the weekend on 16/17 September. Otherwise Firday afterwork will also be cool.

I actually do not know enough where to bike around, I have only followed some friends to bike to Koeln along the Rhine before, for more MTB way, i think it's better to get to Eifel...or somewher near Sauerland (sp?). I have biked to Soligen from here, over there it is GREAT!! There is a famous castle and a very famous bridge..don't know the name anymore, it is worth to go for sure.

We should hook up and plan and post suggestion here.

What do you say? Send me msg or IM me.

Hi,

the route we take is from Grafenberg past the Unterbacher See and then through Neandertal.
it takes about 3.0 hours to complete. Its not the Yorkshre dales, but there are some great downhill/uphill bits.
