Greetings all,

After over two years of ISDN service I just got my DSL service activated! Bad news is that now my phone service is down.

For now I still have my ISDN lines but I disconnected all my ISDN equipment to hook up my DSL wireless router. (Speedport W 500V). I thought I would be able to plug my phone into the speedport and all would be well. I guess not.

Currently I have disconnected the large white ISDN splitter box and the Teledat X120.

Eventually I'll just switch off my ISDN lines but that may take some time.

Do I need to hook my ISDN equipment in with my DSL router? If so, i'm not sure if I have the correct cables. Do I need to get a different phone now?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out how to get a phone working until T-online returns from holiday on Tuesday.

Hi

I don't really undersatnd why you are having a problem.

You should have a T-DSL splitter box (this ia a white box with 3 phone sockets, a A socket that looks like a network socket And a cable that come out of the bottom) yours may vary a bit but...

Ok the cable that comes out of the bottom of the box connects to your phone socket on the wall.
Then you should have a cable that connects to the Network socket on this box, the other end connects to your DSL Router/Modem.

Then from one of the 3 phone sockets on the front of the box you connect to the ISDN NTBA Box.

Then from the NTBA box you connect a cable from your Teledat X120 (i am guessing that this is the same as a Eumex Box where you connect your phones to.)
That is it, it should all work. There should be no need to disconnect the ISDN stuff at all.

Good luck

dontthink you can disconnect ISDN at all, it is the carrier for DSL...

so far as i know to hook your telephones to the speedport you have to have the telephones connected to the underside connections and the T-Net socket (next to the power socket) connected to the splitter

I got it working!

Thanks for the information. There were so many additional connections that were involved that were not shown in the instructions that came with the speedport. The fact they are all in German didn't help smile.gif

Just for others information, the DSL router did connect and function correctly without my ISDN box and teledat being connected but of course with no telephone access.

The people at my local T-punkt informed me that an ISDN connection is no longer required for DSL and that I can have the service removed once I get my DSL up and running. Of course this could be be false infomation. It would not be the first time T-online has given me bad information.

My next hurdle will be connecting my second PC via a wireless G card. I may have some more questions about setting up the router configuration since all the settings are in German and it's the first time I have done this.

Thanks again for all your valuable information!

This is in fact true, as DSL will also work quite happily with an analogue telephone line (which costs less, as well - about half the ISDN price). If you previously had ISDN so that you could surf without blocking your telephone line, i.e. you don't need the ability to have two telephone lines active at the same time, then cancel your ISDN line and get an analogue one instead.

Yes but no tel line wont work is what i meant..
