Hi all

Is there anybody out there that know of any toddler groups in the Frankfurt sachsenhausen area? Preffably english speaking ones. I have been to one near the Zoo, but its a gymnastics thing and to be honest the German mothers there are more than a little bitchy towards the english.

Thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Try http://www.hdv-ffm.de/zentrum-familie/ and look at mehrsprachige-familien.de for all the other English-speaking playgroups in Frankfurt.

Don't understand about the German mothers being bitchy. With me they're usually extremely jealous that my children are being raised bilingually and want to "tag along" so that (as I see it) some of my English rubs off on their kids. How exactly are they bitchy? And what ages are your children?

Hello Sarah

The one at the church on Sebastian Rinz Str (which is on the link that jumpsuit27 gave) is really nice and friendly, with lots of Brits and Americans and it is the only one I know of in Frankfurt which is like a "parent and toddler" group, rather than classes etc. There are a lot of nannies there too.

Thanks for replys

It must be just me but i tried the toddler group i went to for a couple of weeks and they have rules (Which is fine) but my kids had to get used to them, and because they didnt get used to them in that hour i got funny looks and people were talking in German about me which made me feel uneasy now i dont speak German but when someone starts talking quietly to there friend right next to you and pointing to your kids its obvious.

So... i thought i would give it another week and drilled into my kids the rules, we went to the toddler group and my kids were following the rules and everyone else wasn't it felt like one rule for me and no rules for them, and because there kids werent following rules mine played up and got themselves into trouble and again i got bad looks and laught at soooooo i am not going back there.

Like i said it could be just me having to get used to the different culture, but I feel i have had a bad experience with 1 toddler group.

thanks for the list of toddler groups can you tell me if they are closed over the easter hols and how do i get to them from sachsenhausen?

Thankyou again

Sarah
