Can I use prefixes with Arcor?

Y'know, prefixes for cheaper calling...

I recently tried using some prefixes I found online for cheaper dialing, but I couldn't get it to work. I use Arcor, and I'm wondering if anyone else with Arcor has this problem, or was I just doing something wrong?

Thanks!

A simple answer... NO!

Everyone with Arcor has this problem, they usually find out sometime after the ink has dried on the contract.

In general, as soon as one goes for a pre-select or complete contract with a different frovider, the use of the prefix codes is eliminated, with the exception of 01033 (DT). In the interests of getting the largest captive audience possible, most pre-select providers avoid mentioning this as they are only ineterested in one thing - your money, not your convenience mad.gif

I'm " reliably " informed that it costs 3 cents a minute to phone England or Ireland with Arcor. Can anyone confirm this, as I am about to take out an Arcor contract.?

I've been using Arcor's dsl for a year or so now with no problems: no caps, few cut-outs or down periods. I've heard people having problems with pretty much every other internet provider, but a lot of us at the company have Arcor and few have had any complaints... about the service at least. Setting up is another matter.

It took them three months to set me up in Bavaria. They told me at first that the reason for this is because there was no way of connecting the internet to our apartments. This came as a surprise to me as I was living above an Internet Cafe. The set up software is a pain too, and only our most geekiest programmer could get it working perfectly. Most gave up and grappled with the German language konfiguration utility to do it manually.

The 3c a minute calls to the UK are part of the special foreign call rates they have. You pay 1 euro per month for up to three countries you pick in advance. You can do this at the time you set up the contract. The prefix numbers, as far as I've been told, can only be used with T-Com lines, because they have a monopoly over the network and can do pretty much what they like.

Raffles,
If you forget Arcor, and dial 01086 before dailling any UK Landline number, you will only pay 1,45 cent.
The same prefix will get you a call to Ireland for 1.7 cent.

You dont need a contract, unless you want to get ripped off.
