A German gymnasium in the centre of Aachen will begin with a joint Abitur/ International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Expats (age 16) are invited to apply to join the joint programme or the (English-medium) IBDP only. This is an innovation within the Euregio that has the support of The Council of International Schools and the International Baccalaureate Organisation. Owing to the set-up being within a state school, fees for the IBDP can be kept to a minimum. For further information, contact the IB co-ordinator at St. Leonhard's Gymnasium on (0241) 4131 98 0.
We are also researching the demand for English-medium education from age 3-18. Your views on the need would be appreciated!

The European Schools Consortium (ESC) Project is setting up international education in Aachen in co-operation with the local authorities and the support of international education institutions. This will mean recognised English-medium programmes will be available for German nationals and expats with school fees at a minimum.
ESC is researching the demand. If you would welcome such provision or know of informal ways (like the Britboard) that we can reach the expat community, we would like to hear from you.
Thanks!

A website is under construction. In the meantime, the website of the school that is preparing to install the IBDP and that recently underwent an IBO authorisation visit can be visited on this link

Hi ESC leader
Any update on the International school in Aachen? I am english and live in Herzogenrath and there is a possibility that my two children (Matthew 12 and Rachel 10) may come to live with me and therefore I'd like to find an international school that hopefully isn't too far from here.
If anyone else has any insights on this too, it would be gratefully received.
Thanks!
Rebecca

As ESC leader hasn't visited the board since 11th April you may have a better chance of a reply if you send a PM
