not wanting to be unduly pingelig ... but since when is Kölle (and others) in the Ruhrgebiet?

Pretty pink map available here
Editor Bill
Got a better suggestion?
maaph
NRW may be better ...

Or what about Rheinland.

That is the extent of my German Geography, maybe others have different / better suggestion.
Neil
well if you look at it from that persective Rheinland is just as incorrect as Ruhrgebeit
as Rheinland excludes by defination the Ruhr area, either have both or go
for NRW is fine, I guess and you could split the rest into Bundesländer too
maaph
then Rheinland it is ph34r.gif

Ruhrgebeit

Hagen is not in the Rhineland! tongue.gif

Düsseldorf can claim to be in the Ruhrgebiet though! tongue.gif

Well what about Rhine&Ruhr?

Have been wondering all week how Bonn landed in the the Ruhrgebiet myself.

So, if it's not strictly written Korrect what is and what isn't in an area (now known as areaX), how about just calling areaX something that you wont find on a map, but you will know where it is...

How about ThatbuiltupareacoveringbothRheinandRuhrareasbasicallyanywherethatHagenlotwouldco

? phew rolleyes.gif

Bit of a mouthful I know, I suppose we could even call it something sensible like... The Ruhrpott... or even AreaX or even better... leave it like it is. rolleyes.gif

What's the problem with calling it NRW? Everyone knows where you mean, and all the places under dispute are in that area.

Personally I'd never heard of Ruhrgebiet till I saw it on here and I've lived in the area!
Rebecca
Well Bonn can hardly be described as built up or part of the Ruhrpott either. Calling it NRW is fine but newbies may not recognise it straight away. The Rhine is a large and easily recognised landmark. If Rhine&Ruhr doesn't suit would Ruhr&Rhine be any better.
