Stunningly beautiful music with walls of sounds and melodies that take you away. Reminds me why I love music so much - try listening to the song Home or Forgiveness and try not to smile. smile.gif

Thanks to JayHay for introducing this to me.
Wizadora
I dunno if this has been posted before as I can't be arsed reading all 13 pages but the best albums I've bought in ages are the late great Johnny Cash's "American IV: The Man Comes Around" which has the song "hurt" which is so beautiful and haunting it makes me want to cry and also "Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison"

http://www.johnnycash.com/discography.htm
RebellionLies
Yeah, "Hurt" was originally done by Nine Inch Nails; the Johnny Cash version is stunning.
Wizadora
Yeah I saw it on the sleave notes, I'd be interested to hear it, I can't imagine it's anything like the JC version.
Topsy
anybody thinking of buying the new Half Man Half Biscuit CD?
RebellionLies
I'm incredibly tempted, I've heard a lot of good things about it.
RebellionLies
Yet another band well worth checking out:

Wolf Parade - Think Modest Mouse mixed with David Bowie with a smattering of Nirvana and Joy Division. Or, in their own words: "Think of a retarded dog with four heads"
RebellionLies
Dead!Dead!Dead! - best band name ever?

They're from Southampton and sound like a crazy concoction of the Smiths, Mars Volta and Joy Division

THE DOGS ARE COMING!
Didsbury's Daftest
Can only fully agree. Just bought Dogs 'Turn against this Land' and the good old days are back mixed with today. Superb record (emmm CD) , 'specially if you're in my age group.

I love Tuned into a Different station.

I got an email entitled "Beware of Dogs!" once. It was from them happy.gif
Jules Winnfield
Listening to David Gray's latest Life in Slow Motion. Quality.
Didsbury's Daftest
Although David Grey's 'White Ladder' is even better. Currently listening to Magnet (On your Side) and am sure you will find it just as ...
RebellionLies
Listening to Suede's debut album for the millionth time.

It's tops smile.gif
acockreland2balls
the albums that have been doing the rounds on my hi-fi recently...

Kanye West - Late Registration
Quality albeit hyped-up follow-up to College Dropout

Unklesounds - Edit Music for a Film Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reconstruction
Top notch James Lavelle beats and pieces and samples with vocals from the usual culprits like Ian Brown, Richard Ashcroft, etc ..each CD is one track long ...a total mash up !

Ian Brown - The Greatest
Ian is alas not the greatest but as far as his post-Stone Roses stuff goes this is ...great !

Bent - Later
Far out electronica ..squelchy beats & cosmic vibes ...suitable for journeys to other planets

and the next one i'm watching out for ..Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity
PES
Ry Cooder's 'Chavez' Suite

Listen to samples here on NPR.

But not incuded is the lovely '3rd. Base, Dodger Stadium'

spinoza
Emilie Simon - Emilie Simon
Taurus
Audio Bullys - Generation
Didsbury's Daftest
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Ease down the Road. Bedtime.

Latest from Boards of Canada "The Campfire Headphase" is really nice biggrin.gif
Bikecrasho
Not that you are going to get a chance to buy me a pint but Ray Charles greatest hits is great. Put that on with you and your woman and enjoy the evening. Oh, does that sweater you have on come in a V-neck? biggrin.gif Bikecrasho
Didsbury's Daftest
For those of you who don't mind songs in German: 'Element of Crime - Mittelpunkt der Welt'. The singer is Sven Regener, the author of 'Herr Lehmann' - which says it all really.
Didsbury's Daftest
Time to mention my favourite (local) German band here: Tenfold Loadstar ('Mellow Garden'). Oh Hamburg, those were the days...

If you can find it, give a listen to the album "Wings" by Michel Colombier (A&M Records). It dates from 1971 originally, but I believe it has been re-issued.
Michel Rockvision
Hi,
I would recommend Cyberrock CD's by Michel Montecrossa, you can check them out on his Newsletter
www.Michel-Newsletter.com , each has Audio-Files for Real Player and some you already find on www.itunes.com. Cyberrock uses many styles, so:

if you like it wild: Climax Girl Concert
if you're looking for stuff good for dancin' there's a good compilation not on the Newsletter: Techno Trance Speed www.mirapuri-enterprises.com/Michel-Pressinfos/Presseinfos/TechnoTranceSpeed.shtml
something a little bit more relaxing: Love & Light Concert

The thing is there are far too many good CD's that I could list here, but I begin wth these ones. Anyone who likes to hear more music, the following link of the Pressinfos has for nearly every CD Audio-Links and there are the most various genres and also films with trailers: www.mirapuri-enterprises.com/Michel-Pressinfos/index.shtml

That's it for the moment.
P.S.: Don't be embarassed the site has also got links for Sri Aurobindo, Mira Alfassa the Integral Yoga and lots of other things besides music!

Best Regards
Cyberchant

I would recommend,
The Wren's- Meadowland
Modest Mouse- Good News for People who like Bad News
The Shins- Chutes too Narrow
Saul Williams- Self Titled

All of these I really enjoy listening to
Michel Rockvision
Hi,
sorry, this "one album per person" thing I haven't realized before. If it's only one CD by Michel Montecrossa
check out "Techno Trance Speed". The best thing anyway is attending his Live-Concerts, the next one on 12.11.2005 in the Michel Montecrossa Rock Vision Diner in Gauting under the title "Cyberrock Speed Concert".

bob_b_bobson
Nas - Illimatic
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Edan - Beauty and the Beat
Common - Be (Anything by Common Sense is good)
John Legend - Get lifted

@Rebellionlies
Seems like we have a similar taste in music..so I am going to listen to suede tonight!

Saw this crowd at the Bavarian Open on Saturday night. Excellent, but then again I've always had a soft spot for Polish rock bands. They earn bonus points for the name and having song titles like "stones and bottles filled with petrol".

Cool Kids of Death

They even did a cover of "I wanna be your dog".
Foxy
@ Saturday - The Arctic Monkeys eagerly awaited album is hopefully going to be released at the end of January. Their new single is going to be released on the 16th Jan and has a lot to live up to. "I bet that you look good on the dancefloor" went straight to number one in the UK which is nuts. It's a superb tune, but usually the charts are pretty mainstream. I'm really happy for them and can't wait to hear some new material.
alex_se
I don't know if anyone here enjoys the odd house album but there is a great German project called Moonbootica, made up of at least one of the guys from a funny German ahem rap act.
You can get their album at I Tunes Germany.
A good taster is a track called June
glasgowgirl
has to be one of the albums of

The Flaming Lips or Stone Roses.. mmm or Primal Scream

Anyone going to see Franz Ferdinand on the 12th.. the band supporting them are the Rakes, pretty good band... saw them before they were that big in King Tuts in glasgow, really good live!

thx Foxy although aren't most of the songs already available somehow?! ph34r.gif I only heard a couple of new songs (never-heard-before) at the concert.
Foxy
Ah you might be right there Saturday - I haven't downloaded tunes for ages, been to busy. Will need to visit my old friend Soulseek and remedy that. Is the new stuff just as good?

Saw them at Atomic Cafe after a heads up by Katrina. They were incredible. I will buy their album when it is released, eventhough I have already sixteen songs of theirs on rotation.

Frankly .. I wasn't so impressed but again it may need a few listening until it gets me smile.gif .. I'm waiting for their full released album too

Totally random aside - this album's been around for awhile, but I just happen to be listening to it right now and saw this topic. If you haven't heard this then your entire life has just been rendered useless and incomplete.

Endtroducing - DJ Shadow

Best track on the album is "Midnight In a Perfect World". One of my favorites tunes EVAH.
NicNZ
New(ish) kiwi band playing hard-to-define-leaning-towards-dub/reggae music which is extremely highly recommended. Managed to make their album release party in Amsterdam.
Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a true story

re: Arctic Monkeys ...plenty of demos floating around the web which are not bad quality at all. Also, the following site Mardy Bum has several downloads including the classic 'A Certain Romance' ...stuff keeps on getting added to this site so worth checking out on a regular basis until the debut album comes out next year like...
perdido
So I am late too the Ian Brown bandwagon(4 albums apparently) but WOW. Back flashes of Stone Roses...

Just listened to one of my favourites "Wherever you will go" by the calling, I also love "Bittersweet Symphony" by the verve, great tune. Right I'm off to listen to some Van morrison smile.gif whilst working on uni assignments sad.gif

I can safely NOT reccomend these:
Stereophonics
Oasis
Sick to death of that whining brit pop-rock sound.
Rant over, carry on
Foxy
A couple of albums that are definitely worth a listen:

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Emotional, passionate and brilliant.

Sigur Rós - Takk
A truly beautiful album. Warning: It will transport you to a place you will not want to come back from!
nixe
As part of the new BF's attempts to introduce me to French music I was made to listen to this band (amongst others). They are actually quite good methinks, and though I have not listened to every one of their cds (yet) I thought I would recommend the one I have heard here ...

Dolly - Tous des Stars.
(Track 2 - Au Paradis, is my fav song on the album).
Foxy
@ Nixe - has he made you listen to MC Solaar yet? His stuff is class!
Timmeh
Having a first time listen to The Postal Service - The Gift now. Seems quite cool.
nixe
Not yet - but I think he is working through his French music collection quite thoroughly and possibly also in alphabetical order (that's the half-German genes asserting themselves. He's only half French!) When we get to the M's I'll let you know! biggrin.gif
