Thicker than Water - Soundtracknice tunes, soft and relaxing... dont know about the movie though, but if it features "fit surfer dudes", then it suits my liking !

Must say, I didn't read the whole thread (11 pages so far...). But I doubt Dream Theater is in there. Nice progressive rock metal band. Sound a bit like Metallica... but their skills are (truly) on par with a symphony, which the players composed themselves.

...theres a Dublin band called The Frames that are good - excellent live band back home
and also a new singer songwriter called Declan O'Rourke album is called 'Since Kyabram' and is well worth a spin -
check out The Frames website here:
http://www.theframes.ieof course there's also Snow Patrol - my personal favourite [maybe someone has posted this already - sorry, i didn't read all of the posts...]
btw i went to see Oasis in concert in Dublin last saturday -
when i was a young whipper snapper i went to see oasis at the Point Depot and i luved um but to be honest seeing em on sat didn't have the same impact - i guess cause i'm 10 years older now and see the world a lot differently
but for old time sake ... it was worth it - i think we all enjoyed it for the same reasons ...

Still...The Weakerthans and Dismemberment Plan.
Kudos.

the dismemberment plan opened for my band, back in 1997 or so...very cool guys, too bad they broke up...it happens
and er, thanks.
Well, audioscrobbler says what you like pretty accurately, so if you look at others lists you can get ideas of what might like...

It's a site for keeping track of what you play and what other people similar to you (musically) play...so you can identify bands that maybe you might like...
You can't download or stream music from audioscrobbler...
there is a radio thing that's associated with it that plays things based on your list, however...never used the radio thing, too picky

Squarepusher - Ultravisitor
Bit of an acquired taste, but well worth getting into if you have the time/inclination. Squarepusher makes music that blurs all musical boundaries, and is damn hard to listen to... Where is the line between difficult and crap, where music descends into abstract noise? Squarepusher at his best transcends these questions. And he can play the bass guitar at 300+ BPM. He rocks.
Red Hot Car is an underground classic, as is Port Rhumbus (co producted with the Aphex Twin). Neither of which is on the album, but these are some of the more accessable songs.

Bejaysus but didnt I happen to stumble onto Sinead O Connor again recently ... for a baldy-thumb-prick-away-from-lunacy chic she made smoe great music. If you like the angst ridden tracks on "No need to argue" by the Cranberries then I reccomend you get "The Lion and the Cobra".
