For the yanks here (like myself), perhaps you could explain exactly what a "car boot sale" is. While you're at it, you might also want to give a clue where Dempsey Barracks is located. The web site said something about Sennelager, which I assume is a town. I've never heard of it, so it must not be near where I live.

Sennelager is a town near Paderborn (type Husaren Strasse, 33104 into map24.de).

Car Trunk Sale doesn't sound right biggrin.gif. It is where people can sell their second hand goods. I'm pretty sure it does say Flohmarkt on the Poster.

More information can be found on The Royal British Legion and its work on the Website. www.rblpaderborn.netfirms.com.

It's a Yard sale - substitute the yard for "car boot". Sell your tat to others
Bombi
It's great fun seeing what people try to sell and what others surprisingly enough actually buy! laugh.gif

Thats the whole fun about it. And if you are lucky enough to get a bargain that someone is selling and not knowing how much it is really worth, then all the better.
I have done many a bargain on a "Flohmarkt" and sold the Item again on the ebay with a huge profit laugh.gif

Ah, it's a flea market. How nice. Thanks to both of you. The words "car boot sale" or "car trunk sale" brought to mind a shadowy character selling black market items out of the trunk/boot of a vehicle parked on some dark street corner. In other words, not exactly something I would really want to participate in. I therefore suspected it was something else, but wanted to make sure exactly what.

@Far-Lands, Neil bought a Raclette grill for €8 last October! ohmy.gif

Ours cost over €40...
Bombi
We're still collecting stuff to sell that day. Hope the weather is going to be good. smile.gif

I've not seen them open for at least two weeks, so not sure what the score there is.

... and remember, anyone coming into Sennelager should have a look in the Sennelager REWE, you'll find frozen UK sliced bread, baked beans, Walkers huge bags of crisps, John Smiths 500ml cans €1 as well as many other home favourites (Marmite included wink.gif )

Yes they are open Saturday afternoons.

If you are coming in to Sennelager via A33 Autobahn, come off at the Sennelager exit (there is only the one), follow sign post for Sennelager and the REWE is on the right by the Volksbank.

Bombi
Aha, so that's the only reason you're joining us! wink.gif

Many thanks to all of you for supporting our Carboot Sale. The money goes towards what I believe is a worthy cause, which could not be achieved without your help. Once again, many thanks.
