Battling nosey neighbours and silly house rules

Well. Yippeee Maybe the Germans aren’t so bad!.

There was another meeting today with the housing office and my husband and the landlord. The landlord has completely changed her mind and has agreed with us. She says she is fed up with the people downstairs taking advantage of the house i.e. telling the other residents what they can do and not do. She has told them that they must remove all there things from the back garden. They must get rid of the spare bikes they have as they are making it difficult for the rest of us to get ours out. She has apologized to us and refunded our parking permits
Also!!!
We have found out that we are the only people in the house with legal right to use the car park as the people downstairs do not have the car park on there rental agreement.

We are allowed to use the back garden for the dog to play around in of the lead.

I am allowed to smoke on the balcony.

So all in all I am much happier, I know it means we are not moving but it means that we are the ones in the right and the people down stairs can suck it up!
I hope this makes sense basically it means WE WON!!

Suppose the landlord's lawyer took a look at things and talked sense into her? But why was your lawyer so dismissive?

What sort of threats did the base make?

Excellent News "Belle"...I bet the neighbours are well pissed off now.

Just seen the people down stairs, they do not look happy at all!!!. The base just sent a letter to the land lord saying that they are on our side and if things do not improve they will help us take legal action.

Much Much better!!! yyyyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

I am so happy. I have actually just been on the balcony and yes smoking!!! ha ha ha

Why don't u confuse them by inviting them in for a drink?

We have invited the people upstairs for drinks so we can come to some sort of arrangement with me smoking on the balcony i.e. I only smoke whilst they are at work. I don't mind that. I would prefer to stay friends with them as they are around my age group. I know I know it looks like we are backing down again but I will need some one in the house who I can call on whilst my hubbie is away.

Its the people downstairs that have really upset us. Unfortunatly they will never be invited around again. Even when we have parties! they have missed out on free food and booze silly them.

Well done as the americans would say 'Give that girl a cigar' and smoke it on the balcony. No ok you dont want to piss off upstairs. I too would not invite them from downstairs, it then looks like you have done something wrong and are trying to suckle up to them. Again well done, glad to hear a good ending to this.
