Can I apply for Kindergeld If I have a contrat for a period of time -lets say 2 years- instead of a open ended contract?
thanks

Yep you will have to supply proof that the englisch have stopped paying you family allowance.
That should be straightforward enough, there is a standard form for it.
The social there will bungle it a few times, and forget to send it, and the usual stuff you expect from a crap department but you will get it.

You can get it retroactively for 6 months too. So if you have been here a while (and not claimed in the UK) they will pay you for the time you were here even though you didn't claim. (if that makes sense!!)
I got over 9 months money by the time they sorted it all out
thanks to all

! I will insist to the relocation people.

We claim in the UK and receive a top up here in Germany of the difference.
